UC Admission

Hello! I was just wondering if getting accepted to a UC school would be a good match for me. I am a junior in high school and OOS

GPA: 3.56 UW
4.2 W
SAT: 2150
ACT: not taken (aiming for a 32)

Clubs : HOSA- freshman to current
DECA - freshman to current
National Honor Society- sop.

to current (secretary)
Key Club - fresh. to current
(Elected to VP)
Student Council- (Class

Secretary)
Environmental Club - junior yr
Orchestra - freshman to soph.

Volunteer Work: 400+ hours from volunteering from hospitals, museums, runs , etc.

UCLA, UCB, UCI, UCSD, and UCSB are my top options!

You in good shape blood. Great Sat score and GPA just keep this Shiite up cuh

Berkeley and UCLA might be reaches, but not impossible ones. You have a very solid shot at most of the others, unless you are applying to some ultra-competitive programs (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, et al). My son got into UCSD and Davis from out-of-state with lower stats than yours.

bump

UCLA: mid-high match
UCB: high match (could depend on essays)
UCI: match
UCSD: low-mid match
UCSB: low match

For UCs, those ECs and scores are very good; just make sure your essays are on point, and you should get into all of them.

@brendada Hi! I am new to this, I am not quite sure what the high, mid, low match mean? Does high match mean less likely???

Yup. Low = more likely. High = less. It goes low match -> mid match -> high match -> low reach -> mid reach -> high reach, basically.

Good chance at UCSB and uci . not sure about the rest because I’m assuming 4.2 isn’t your uc GPA because your uw is 3.5. Your uc GPA would probably be around 3.8 idk you have to calculate it. Something around that number will hold you back because UC’s usually need 4.0+ uc GPA to be competitive. However, your sat and ecs are good. UCSB favors high test scores while rest of UC’s either look at both or favor GPA.

Here is the UC GPA calculator: http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

UCLA and UCB also uses uncapped UC GPA along with the capped (8 semester Honors points). I agree, UC GPA would be around 3.8 based on the 3.5 unweighted. SAT is competitive but UC GPA needs to close to 4.0 or higher for UCLA/UCB and UCSD. For UCI/UCSB, you have a decent chance.

No need to keep bumping without calculating your UC-weighted GPA.

3.8 @woogzmama‌. Starting to realize that UC’s are not worth the 55k+ :(. Should I just stick to my other options (UW or instate)?
