UC admissions chances

<p>Hey everyone, I was hoping for advice on my chances as well as other questions regarding colleges to apply to. I'm a senior.</p>

<p>UC GPA: 3.58
As you can see, the pretty much takes me out of 7 UC's right off the bat with gpa alone, its quite low, (4-5 b+'s =()
SAT I: 1820 (first time, also quite low, but im taking the ACT in September and SAT 2 in bio and lit in October. So i expect the SAT/ACT range to be in the higher 1800's or 1900+</p>

<p>Now my extracurriculars are the only area where i shine:</p>

<p>Member of Interact (rotary club) for all years of high school, this year I am vice president
Member of Key club last year, and this year I am treasurer.
Member of Mock trial team last year and again this year.
I am founding my own club regarding tutoring the local middle school students after school, which i did last year and i am going to make it a fully fledged club with more tutors.
I also help my local mosque (muslim version of church lol) and am helping to grow the youth group, i dont know if im going to mention this but ill see. </p>

<p>Major: either Biology or Medical anthro
High Reach: UCLA (5% chance)<---probable pessimistic chances for colleges
HIgh Reach: UCB ( 5-7% chance)
Reach: UCSD (10% chance)
Reach: UCD (10% chance)
Reach: UCI (10-13% chance)
Reach: UCSB (15% chance)
Reach: Cal Poly SLO (don't know approx chances)
Match: UCSC (70-80% chance)
Match: UCR (70-80% chance) this is more perferred than UCSC because im in socal and it has a med school
Saftey/match: SDSU
Saftey: Cal sate long beach</p>

<p>My son’s stats are close to yours and I figured ucr was a match. UCSB or UCI is were he would like to go but frankly I figure less than 20% chance to get accepted.</p>

<p>Note that SLO counts freshman grades.</p>

<p>Also, what were your SAT for just math and reading? This is what is used.</p>

<p>UCR and UCSC would definitely be in your range. I’d apply to the mid-tier UCs (davis, irvine, santa barbara) as your reach schools</p>

<p>My combined math and reading is 1200. 660 reading (high) and 540 math (somewhat low). and also my freshman year was much better than soph so that might help with SLO. Sophmore year was horrible and i completely regret it, Junior year shows an upward trend and this year im taking 5 AP’s which might give some consideration.</p>

<p>Can you increase math? My son took sat twice. First time math was in low 600 but on second time he scored 710. </p>

<p>They are not needed, but they do show the college of your abilities in certain subject areas.</p>
