UC Chances

Hello, my son is a senior in high school and is applying for colleges (mainly UCs). I am curious as to what others thought his chances of getting in are.

UC gpa so far: 4.08 Non-Uc: 4.23

He took the SAT I in March and got a 1930, will re take it next month and will aim for over 2000 at least.

SAT IIs: MathIIc: 670 US History: 640 Chemistry: 630 (yes, they are low)

He has (im not sure of the exact number), at least 150 hours of community service, maybe 200+
He would be the first generation to go to college

Chess Team (3 yrs)
Treasurer of Chess Club (3 yrs)
Key Club (3 yrs)
CSF (3 yrs)
Debate Club
Table Tennis Club
Part of tutoring program for a few years
Honor Roll
Internship last summer for a software company
Possibly some others that I cannot think of at the moment

He would most like to go to UCB, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, and UCD.

Thanks for any input!

Cajun5:

UCB/UCLA: Slight Reach
UCSD: Match
UCI/UCD: Safe Match

UC gpa so far: 4.08 Non-Uc: 4.23

how does that work??
but UCB/UCLA: slight reach
UCSD match.

As it stands, he has 8 AP classes and two weighted honors classes (which would result in a 4.23 for 10-12), but since the UC's only take 8, his modified UC gpa is going to be lower. That's the way I understood it, and that's how it appears on his transcript

Wow I have almost identical stats as you.

I think we're fine for UCSD, and it'll depend on our essays for UCB and UCLA
