<p>On the UC App, it says that the family info part is optional.. I doubt I will get any need based financial aid (since my family is average income ish) so I am leaning towards not filling it out at all... but will not filling it out be bad in terms of merit based scholarships the UC schools offer? or bad in any other way?</p>
<p>Why wouldn't you fill it out? Is there something you are concerned about? In general, I would fill out everything, even optional stuff unless there is a good reason to leave it blank.</p>
<p>well I don't want to fill it out b/c I heard that (for private schools) unless you are disadvantaged financially, it is not good to fill out too much on family info since it works against you in admissions.</p>
<p>I had the same concern. But I did not think it was optional. I'll check again.</p>
<p>I called UCLA on this and they said to leave it blank if you are not EOP.</p>
