^^I looked at my UCI Financial Aid and could not find the form?! And I also looked around the homepage of the UCI Financial Aid.

try googling it

^^Did, and all it did was show me rules and how to apply for FAFSA.

weird

10char

I did not list my current CC in my fafsa at all, just the 4 UC’s that I applied to. Any ideas?

^^ you can change the school of attendance. If I were you I would just wait until you find out which UC you plan on attending for sure, and then change it. but I’m sure you could change it right now if you already know where you’re going. I think it’s inthe section of your cal grant status and in the corner it says “change school of attendance” or “change info” something like that.

^^ Took a look into it and I’m not allowed to change my school of attendance until my cal grant has been renewed or awarded.

I contacted fafsa and they told me that they received my fafsa and made it available to the 4 UC’s that I applied to as well. I guess I can just wait till this cal grant thing gets approved before I can change the school of attendance right? And the grant will adjust to whatever UC I’m attending?

I’m just a bit worried because if you attend the same school, they don’t need a GPA verification. And since I will be attending a different school, I’m afraid that they will just skip out on sending my GPA verification out because they think I’ll be staying…

You know?

yikes, try going to the financial aid office at your school and asking them what to do. But i’m pretty sure since your fafsa was sent to the UC’s your gpa will be sent as well. Like, if the UC’s get your fafsa and your application I think they will request the GPA from cal grants themselves. but idk check just to make sure.

I actually reread the thing from the CSAC website:

Renew a Cal Grant:
If you’ve already received a Cal Grant, you don’t need to submit a verified GPA to renew your award. You’ll just need to submit a FAFSA to the federal processor.
CSAC and your school will determine if you’re still eligible to receive your Cal Grant, so be sure to include your school on your FAFSA.

I guess renewal’s apply to every school. Getting cal grant at a CC and then transferring to a UC and getting cal grant also counts as a renewal.

I guess I’m not that worried anymore!

you get cal grants? do you also receive pell grants? and is ur familys income < $20,000? just asking cuz I get pell grants but not cal grant and my familys income is really low. I wonder if they would deny me cal grants if I go to a UC, which they shouldnt bc UC’s are way more expensive than CCC. I neeed that money lol

@lawlking it might not become available until after you are accepted and your preliminary aid package is set up.

@ uchappytrain, I also did not get cal grants. my GPA and fafsa were all received on time according to last year’s profile on web-grants. I really believe it has to do with the fact that we are CC students. My family’s income is also below 20k

And even if you don’t qualify for cal grant for whatever reason it may be, the UC you will go to will give you some sort of grant of their own to cover you…for people that have a very low income i guess.

Thats good to hear bc several people have already posted that they’ve received cal grants and they’re CCC students, and I thought being a CCC disqualified you bc its so inexpensive. I really hope I get the same amount of money I was estimated for by the financial aid calculator, or even more would be nice (:

@Chelzmcnamara: Cal Grant for transfer students has an age ceiling for whoever receiving it, so if a student is over 28 by end of the year he/she is applying, they will not able to get the cal grant for transfer. This might be the reason you would not receiving it.

well i’m 20 so why am I not receiving it?

@ moon9kittie, eh I don’t think so, I’m 20

This might be a dumb question but do all the grants also apply to CSU campuses? Pell and Cal? Just not B & G.

Uhh… do you guys think colleges will look down on me if I don’t go to one school, my main school, and go to my secondary CC? I used to go to both but I am thinking of not attending one this semester.

Also, if my TAU stated that I was going to take this class, and I ended up dropping it and taking a different class in a different school, what should I do? Don’t I need to like notify them or something?

@Chelzmcnamara: sorry, on your statistics, it shows you as 31, so I assumed that was the reason.

@iDizzle: yes, all the grants also apply to CSU campuses.

@uchappytrain: I’m not so sure, here are the qualification for Cal Grant, check if you qualify everything.

To qualify, you must:

submit the FAFSA and your verified Cal Grant GPA by the deadline
be a recent high school graduate or a high school senior ready to graduate
be a U.S. citizen or eligible noncitizen
be a California resident
attend a qualifying California college
not have a bachelor’s or professional degree
have financial need at the college of your choice
have family income and assets below the minimum levels
be enrolled or plan to enroll in a program leading to an undergraduate degree or certificate
be enrolled or plan to enroll at least half time
have registered with the U.S. Selective Service, if required to do so
not owe a refund on any state or federal grant or be in default on a student loan

maybe bc I received pell grants and fee waivers so I didn’t have a financial need.
