<p>Hi, I’m currently getting ready to apply to UC, DAAP and I have few questions about the application and hope someone who have done it before can help me.</p>
<li><p>I’m planning to apply online. There is an “Extracurricular activitiy” part and I am wondering if I need to provide any documents to prove I have participated in those activities. </p></li>
<li><p>Does applying DAAP needs recommendation letters? The admission page didn’t mentioned about it, does it mean I don’t have to have a letter sent in?</p></li>

<p>I have a 3.7GPA UW.And I know I won’t have a sparkling SAT score… I’ll be taking SAT 10/4! Maybe 1300 CR+Math? My class rank is around 20%. But I have great extracurricular activities record, will that help? Last, I have heard that UC is big into diversity. Will being an international student help increasing the chance to get in?I’m from Taiwan.</p>

<p>My school and I are so confused about the whole application process. My school had helped many student applying colleges in foreign country but they said that they don't understand why UC didn't mention if I need to send any document to support the activities I had done. And recommendation letters don't seem to be required.</p>
<p>Thank you anyways, Taxguy. I think you totally rock! I've been reading through threads and you were always offering so much help. I showed my Mom your comments about UC and after that she agreed that UC is a great place to study industrial design. (Well, she went through a lot of threads in core77 also...)Before that she actually didn't want me to apply UC because none of our friends ever heard of UC. They only know schools like Art Center and RISD. (Which tuitions are VERY expensive...) </p>
<p>Trust me on this: UC probably has a better ID program that most of the other schools that are are considering. If you count their terrific connection with coops too, they are unbeatable. However, if you get in there, be advised that they are VERY hard! You will be putting in a LOT of late hours and hard work if you want to do well, and the grading isn't inflated.</p>
<p>As for being careful with the application, my meaning was to write your essay with care. Proof read everything that you submit and make sure you are submitting everything that they want. Also, ALWAYS confirm that they the SATs/ACTs were sent out, that your transcript went out and that UC has these items. Don't assume that because you requested items be sent to UC that they were sent or even that they got the items.</p>
<p>Follow the instructions in the UC application. If UC doesn't mention that proof of one's extracurricular activities or recommendation letters is required, I'd guess that they're not needed. My son, who's a sophomore at DAAP, has heard of students who've sent in a couple of recommendation letters and were accepted to DAAP at UC. Who knows if they made the difference in being accepted or not?</p>
<p>I agree with all of taxguy's advice above. He was a wonderful resource when my S was applying to colleges and considering UC. </p>
<p>Taxguy: Thanks again. I know my English isn't good enough yet. I absolutely will find everyone I can to proof read everything for me. the coop program is actually the reason I am interested in UC. So UC will be the only school I apply for. And I look forward to all the hard work. I believe hard work can let me learn more stuff. I'm used to it anyway...</p>
