I am applying to 2 UC schools from out of state. On the application, it says I cannot put down honors for 9th grade, because they do not count as honors there. What am I supposed to put? Am I supposed to lie & say I did not take honors classes when I did? How is this fair, to not recieve credit for classes I took? Also, for 10 grade courses it says that for certain classes you can't put honors. Again, why is this, and what do I put instead? I don't get it, do they want me to lie to them? Oh and why don't the University of California schools just let me send my transcript? That is so much eaiser, I just do not undertsand. Is there any way AT ALL to just do that instead? I am out of state & this all seems very stupid & confusing to me (and like WAY to much extra work). Any advice/knowledge on any of this or anything else I need to know about applying to UC schools would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

because every school has an individual transcript format, yours is going to look different from every other kid's. This means that the UCs would would have to sift through 40,000 special transcripts, with no way of mainstreaming or calibrating them.

When you get an "A" in a UC recognized honor class, it counts as 5.0 toward GPA (maximum is 8 semesters). The honor classes you took in 9th grade are honor classes, but doesn't count as honor as far as UC is concerned. So when you get an "A" in those classes, it's 4.0. When you put them in your application, it has (H) in the description and NH in honor status.
