@goldencub I’m still having a hard time deciding which EC/Work exp/Edu programs to include within my application, any insights on which ones are valued more by Cal?
Edit: The maximum of 5 per category makes it a hard decision, privates/OOS don’t have such limitations.

@EECSProdigy I dont know why you have such a bad case of little man syndrome, but if all you’re going off of is hear say then maybe you should just sit down and be quiet. While ive never taken a UCB stem class, I did take a class last summer there and I pretty much coasted through it, sure it was difficult in its own way, there was a lot of reading, and two test, but that was it, no homework, no quizzes, no projects, absolutely no busy work. In that sense it was actually easier than what I’m used to. While taking 26 units is impressive, if that person isnt working or doing any type of activity beyond school then anyone with a decent work ethic could achieve that.
On a another note, just because you’re bumming your way through CC and I’m assuming that you’re parents are disappointed with your failure to attend a four year straight out of high school does not mean we are all underachievers like you are. I for example did four years in the US Marine Corps and CC was just the best option for me, as it is for many other veterans, I can guarantee you that you would never call me or any other veteran mediocre, at least not to our face. I recommend that you take your self loathing elsewhere because no one cares that you’re a spoiled 19 year old with nothing to do but put others down.
So if you’re a community college student interested, do you just show up? Or is there another form we need to sign up on.The linked form seems to be for only current transfer students.
I don’t know anything about the form, but where I read it, it said current CCC students, prospective transfers, and current transfers. I think you can just show up, frankly.
Those transfer oriented things seem to be very helpful. I went to a Shadow Day where we were given a tour by successful transfers (grouped by our major, more or less), and we were able to ask questions, etc. I may be incorrect, but I think this event will be held by the same people (more or less).
@goldencub I’m still planning to possibly go sometime next week to the Transfer center, but @lindyk8 thank you for providing us with that info. And I know, I feel your pain… make sure you double/triple/quadruple check all your courses you input. I’m also going to have my college counselor go over it with me. Never a bad idea to have another set of eyes make sure everything is just right.
@jonuni94 I think you can print the “Review Coursework” page of your app, and go over that with your counselor. That’ makes things easier when checking it. I’ve definitely caught a few errors myself.
The transfer center’s drop-in hours are Thurs and Fri, 2-4.
@blsUCtransfer I’ll have finished 84 semester credits in two academic years, and if you include the credits I earned from my first go at school in 2010 I’ll have well over 90. I really haven’t taken many GE classes though.
There’s so much to be read on this post for me. But if you guys could still help me with some tips, it would be great.
I’m an international high school graduate planning to attend a California CC for two years and then transfer to Berkeley EECS. Any recent stats for intl students? Would my high school gpa still be required for transferring after two years? Any tips to get in? All suggestions are welcome!
You’re definitely doing the right thing. Int’l transfer students applying direct to UCLA have like a 5.5% acceptance rate, while its around 25% if they transfer from a CCC. I’m stating this off the top of my head, but it’s significantly higher when you transfer via a CCC.
I’m citing UCLA because these are the figures I know. But one could assume it would be fairly comparable across all platforms.
@lindyk8 - I think you mistyped UCLA instead of UCB, or did you mean to specify on UCLA?
I’m trying to look for any stats I can find for international CCC transfer to Berkeley EECS. I’m totally new to all this, so any steps you would suggest would be greatly helpful! Just PM me.
I was citing figures from UCLA because it is the only UC that gives very detailed transfer statistics. I’m not sure if UCB provides statistics (direct int’l to UC vs int’l to CCC to UC), so I was just showing the stats from UCLA, which should more or less mirror the other UCs. Sorry if that was confusing.
In terms of specific major, I’m not sure you’ll find that information. If you’re at a CCC I assume the criteria will be more GPA and coursework.
I think I just read somewhere that UCB no longer give the transfer statistics on engineering majors anymore. And I could not find that info for recent years either, so the may have truly stopped giving that information.
