does anyone know if having a sibling in regents would help? or would it hurt? can’t really tell
@screenname102: Should make no difference- Neutral
Will Regents invites go out this Friday?
@Gumbymom I’m confused. I didn’t get a lor request from ucla but I got the regents email
UCLA does not send LOR request @mario1999
Ok thank you @USUG21 I didn’t know that. Is there still a possibility I get regents elsewhere in other uc’s like Santa Barbara, San Diego or Davis or is la the only place ?
u ll get from UCB as getting reagent from UCLA is not a small thing… @mario1999
Does anyone know if any people who got LOR requests last year got Regents?
@mario1999 It is common for a person who gets an offer of Regents at one UC to get Regents offers from other UCs as well. I like the campuses that tell you straight out that you will get it instead of making you apply. I think it is likely that you will get Regents at the other three you mentioned.
I really think the LoR were at least semi-random this year. I got my request literally the after I applied, there was no way they where able to give my app even a cursury glance. Same for many of the other kids at my school.
In the video I believe it was stated that 80% LOR sent out based on automated selection method. 20% were sent out after review by someone in admissions.
@lindseyharvard and others: Watch the video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-4pi-zlk8g&feature=youtu.be.
) presented by Berkeley admissions regarding LOR requests for this past year for in-state applicants. They make it very clear that LOR can be requested at two points: 1) algorithm taking into account only quantitative measures (Testing and GPAs) which apparently occurs quickly after submission and 2) after a prelim review of the application including both quantitative and qualitative measures (that are then scored). This would explain the number of applicants that are asked for LOR very quickly after submission (using 1 above) and then those that are asked much later after submission (using 2 above). They clearly state that LOR are requested from “maybe” applicants either after the screening algorithm taking into account GPA and Testing or after a prelim review of the application. Again but important was that this was
@tarheels4life
definitely yor are right !!!
When will Regents be announced? Anyone has a clue?
@gingerspark99 Berkeley’s regents has been announced on the second Friday of February last year. Also shoutout to my friend gokster99 for getting UCLA regents nomination!
In the past several years (examining the old threads), regents announcement has come on a Tuesday, Thursday and Friday during the second week of February. So could be any day now!
Last year they also send out early acceptance with Regents. Not sure if it is something started last year or is tradition?
