*****UC Berkeley 2021 Applicants Thread*****

@NoturneD I got no interview at MET, neither accepted or rejected. Heard of one rejection, who got an interview. Not sure if they have accepted some or all. Unclear. Do u know? Does anyone?

@Teach-me Got no interview either. But got a LOR late Nov. Haven’t heard anything so far.

One rejection? How come? I thought they only sent acceptance letters yesterday?

There are a few on this thread accepted by MET. But I am not sure how many and if it is all…

I was rejected from MET but accepted to EECS. The letter was basically CONGRATS ON EECS (but we’re gonna reject you from what you actually want).

Did get an email for some scholarship though

@NoturneD I think the program accepts 30-50 total I count 4-5 who have reported here.

The one rejection tells me that all MET decisions have gone out. If you remember, the appeal to MET is that if you don’t get in, you still have the chance for your engineering major. So, I think people who did not get Accepted or Rejected today, will NOT get into MET, but may get into EECS or IEOR, as indicated. Very sloppy if you ask me. They should have sent out an email to clarify.

I want some kind of reason for getting rejected.

@Batwing99 Your stats were great and you had the passion. I really thought u were a slam dunk. Sorry. I wish u luck.

Can someone explain what this Regents thing is? I received an email that said that they would fly me to Berkeley to visit.

It’s quite an honor and offered to only a small percentage of admitted students. Regents scholars have some special opportunities as well, if the title is bestowed. An interview is involved, with a professor.

At UCLA and Berkeley you may be invited to compete for Regents. At the other UCs it is awarded outright. Getting Regents is very valuable because it gives some priority in class selection. This means you would be more likely than other students to get the classes you want and the professors and time slots your prefer. This is so important at the crowded UC campuses. At Berkeley you get $2,500 per year if there is no financial need, and more if there is. Also you are mentored by a professor and have the opportunity to apply for research grant. To renew the scholarship each year you must maintain a 3.0 gpa and be full time. You get guaranteed housing in a University Residence for four years, as long as you still have the scholarship.

It says $10,000 over four years.

@Batwing99 Thank you so much for catching my mistake!! I made the correction.

@NO102938

Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.72

SAT II: Math II - 800, Chem - 800

Has anyone else also received the invitation to the UCSB Chancellor’s Reception? Does that mean I got Regents there as well?

@scarletwitchx: Getting the UCSB Chancellor Reception invite guarantees an acceptance but not Regents.
