I think they usially post atound the admissions office’s closing time so it would probably be aroun 5pm PST but it wouldn’t be surprising if it was even earlier.
When did that email come out? Don’t have it.
Oh wait. It was that email back in February. Got it.
@kibbles I received it on Feb 11. The subject was Feb Update: Applications in Review.
@kibbles I got mine at 6:28 p.m. and I think I remember some people mentioning it a few pages back? They might be sending them out in batches.
This seems kind of last-minute, though, given that it’s supposed to take place this Saturday.
@mintchipmagic Wait, what’s supposed to take place this Saturday?
Just go to your portal and it says the 30th right there.
@mintchipmagic You must be looking at something else… What’s the email about?
@mintchipmagic lol are you just messing with us? The email everyone’s talking about came out in mid-February. And there’s nothing happening Saturday??
Just curious, does anyone know the easiest way to declare California residency? I’m OOS but IF i get accepted, I want to avoid the 60k a year ASAP.
@vasodys Whoops, totally my bad! I had multiple tabs open, and got confused because on the UCSD thread, we were talking about the UCSD reception email. So when I saw the question at the top of the page “when did that email come out?” for some reason I didn’t check which thread I was on, and answered like that.
@tem339 I’m so sorry, I had multiple tabs open, and I got confused by something on the UCSD thread.
@mintchipmagic lol that’s okay
@kibbles Really sorry!! I had the UCSD tab open too and some people were talking about the reception email on that, I saw your question at the top of this page and totally wasn’t paying attention to which thread I was on.
(I think this is a sign that I need to get more sleep haha)
@mintchipmagic No worries I totally understand!!
@422525 It’s pretty hard to declare Ca residency for college. You need to have been in california for a few years for noneducational reasons before being considered as a resident. I think it’s because those OOS bucks help the schools out
@422525 To determine residency, UC follows the money. If your family is paying the bills for your tuition and room & board, and they are located out of state, then you won’t qualify for California residency. So your options are:
(1) get financial support from your family, but convince them to relocate to California (and start paying California taxes), or
(2) don’t get financial support from your family, and pay for tuition, room and board yourself by working in California (and paying California taxes).
Neither of these options is practical for most out-of-state students, which is the way UC wants it to be.
Pretty sure your family has to be a California resident for like two years before in-state tuition applies also (not positive but I’m pretty sure)
UC California residency requirements link below. They are quite specific and hard to work around.
What if my dad has been a resident of California for seven years, as he left my family and is separated from my mom. Anyway to get in state tuition through that? I live in Florida.
