@atishba It seems like we’ve applied for the same schools and majors. I got into UCD for mech eng. I applied for mech eng at UCSD, but got accepted for aerospace (my second choice). With UCLA though, I didn’t get rejected outright; instead I got waitlisted. By the way, where are you from?
Waitlisted at UCLA for EE. 2320 SAT single sitting, 3.7/4.46 GPA(Not sure about my UC GPA, but most of my B’s were freshman year). 800’s on SAT Physics, Math II, and Chem. Decent ec’s. Hopefully I still stand a chance at Berkeley EECS despite being waitlisted at UCLA for EE. Also received the LOR request earlier this year.
Do u guys think i have a chance??
GPA: 6.9
ACT: 37
ECs: President of the United States, dabbled in the creation of Facebook, NAVY seal, helped find/kill Bin Laden, was invited to a luncheon with Plato, etc.
Recs: 10/10
Marital Status: 5 times divorced
I’m super nervous, can someone please tell me if it’s likely? Thanks!
@getmein134 What’s your stance on thicc latinas?
@getmein134 HHAHAHA thank you for making me laugh
@getmein134 I think the divorces might pull you down a bit
I hate to break it to you, but helping to find Bin Laden isn’t enough leadership involvement. In the future, I suggest you increase participation by executing the entire operation by yourself. That should be impressive enough for UC Berkeley. But right now, I chance you at about 0.00000000069%.
@bobthebuilder13 I’m in the same situation as you, and am really anxious!! Although, my stats aren’t quite as impressive as yours.
On the presentation on LoRs by Berkeley, there was a mention that UCLA tends to accept less applicants from the Bay area while Berkeley doesn’t appear to have anything like that. Does it mean that we from Bay Area can have slightly better hope, even they are rejected by UCLA. Or am I just reading too much into a random statement?
Honestly, I’m going to be more nervous opening Cal’s letter than any of the Ivies on March 30 simply because it actually seems possible for me to get in after previous UC results…
Hi I’m new here so I guess I’ll give you all my stats.
Unweighted GPA: 4.0
Weighted GPA: 4.24
SAT: 1440 (an even 720 720 split)
Minimal extracurriculars but I do have some. I did soccer out of school, book club, and EAOP if you know what that is. So far I’ve gotten accepted to UC San Diego and Davis as well as Santa Barbara (or at least I’m assuming I got in to SB because I got invited to the Chamcdllor’s Reception). But… I’ve been rejected from UCLA.
I’m still waiting to hear from Berkeley, USC, and… Stanford… gulp. Berkeley asked for a recommendation letter, but I haven’t heard back like others have said so I don’t think that’s too promising.
@E17 - Berkeley admission is totally distinct from UCLA. Good luck.
@Madrocks - Although you’d be hard pressed to find anyone to confirm geographic factor in admission, it is there if you analyze the admission demographics. NorCal better for Berkeley; SoCal for UCLA. [High majority of freshman attend colleges within 50 miles of their homes. Not a point ignored by admission departments.]
@E17 Only the top 2000 applicants hear back in Feb, if that’s what you’re referring to.
any chance admissions decisions will come out on march 24? also do you all think a LOR is a good sign if you have low stats?
@acpadt No, because they officially said that they are 100% coming out on the 30th, and yes, but it’s hard to know.
is there anything someone being considered for regents scholarship should do to receive the scholarship? really scared for the 400/1200 number. thought i had a great interview but i feel like its such a gamble
@helium9 I am from India but I have lived in Singapore for the past 10 years. I actually got into UCSD for my second choice (chemical engineering) while my first choice was mech engineering.
Does anyone know how competitive/ difficult it is to get in as someone who applied philosophy in L&S? I don’t imagine too many people applied philosophy but I also hear that Cal accepts based on the specific college applied to.
Thanks @wormandcandy . Hoping for the best. Good luck to you too!
