Hey guys is there a GroupMe for Berkeley 2021?
Berkley is not broke. There are big classes and you need to plan your choices carefully so you get the courses you need to graduate. However, my cousin at ND has been declined from classes that have a cap and some of those classes are only offered once. Where ever you are, you need to keep an eye on classes and when they are offered. I am at ucla and people are graduating on time - and those who don’t are not blaming the funding because that is not true.
Hi, I have a question. So I see people writing that 2000 students were notified of admission in Feb. for the Regents/Chancellors scholarship, but Berkeley’s website says that only 200 students are supposed to be notified. Why was it 2000 this year instead of the standard 200?
Sorry, I know this may be a repeat from a few threads ago but I have to reconfirm. I got a LL from UCLA and got accepted into the engineering school for CS. I also got into UCSD for CS and waitlisted at Northwestern for CS. Would you say I have a shot at Cal? I applied for EECS and I’m OOS.
Also, does anyone know (roughly) how many students have already been accepted to Cal? And I’m assuming that those students are a part of Berkeley’s 17% acceptance rate right?
I got waitlisted at NU too
@voltthorn Wait for a few more days, you will know. Otherwise, it is anyone’s guess which has a zero predictive value unless it is from a Berkeley AO.
@grtd2010 Fair response haha Just trying to calm the nervous and determine my chances.
ahh, the 30th is so far away… :((
Can any one say if in the first wave of acceptance in feb any undeclared engg and applied science applicants are accepted…
@tenaciousteen113 they accept 2000 people early, some who are regents candidates and some who are not (I think my tour guide for regents stuff said about 1000 people are nominated for regents?). The regents candidates then interview, and about half are chosen as regents scholars. About half of those students then end up attending UC Berkeley, which is where the 200 people thing comes from.
@USUG21 I’m sure people were–it’s a very small program, and about 70 (?) people are accepted per year. They tend to be some of the best applicants to UC Berkeley, so I assume many of them were admitted early.
Ah, okay. Thanks!
I know some better stat ppl who r not acceped into undeclared but others who applied for some majod got accepted
Would it be worth staying local and going to UCLA for CS over going to Berkeley for EECS?
@jaquabert In terms of ranking, Berkeley’s CS definitely quite a bit above UCLA. Specifically, Berkeley EECS is one of the top 3 CS programs in the nation, and even #1 according to some sources.
That being said, college is about a lot more than just academics. Go to the college you feel like you fit in at. UCLA is also a really strong school.
When does Cal decisions come out? Some say 24th and some say 30th.
30th
@USUG21 Undeclared engineering is literally the most selective major at UC Berkeley. Yes, people with high stats will get rejected.
30th is a big day
i interned at UC berkeley and did numerous volunteer programs there pertaining to my CS major… will this improve my chances of getting into L&S for CS?
