Yup house that went for 600k back in 96 now over 3 mil. I can’t imagine paying the new property taxes on that.
Only reason I haven’t completely decided on selling, is if my kids end up out here.
@Swiper902 It says that because the sentences below ARE the status update. It’s not a button, just a heading.
Hey people. So what time will Cal release decisions? Asking for a friend

Hey does anyone know whether being asked for LOR is a good thing? It happened a few months ago but I didn’t pay much notice to it since I thought everyone got the request… but talking to other applicants who didn’t get a request I’m getting a little worried…
In most cases, it’s a great thing! The only confirmed case in which receiving a LOR is a bad thing is when a student has high stats but wasn’t selected for early admission. The source is an hour-long video of the Berkeley admission process.
However, if I’m wrong, please feel free to correct me. I’m going off memory, so my statement might be inaccurate.
Thank you so much for the response, lifted my spirit a bit haha.
Feels kind of peculiar since I didn’t think my scores were high enough to be considered as OOS but I did spend a lot of time on my essays and have pretty good EC’s, just heard that for OOS students grades mattered a lot.
@ByteZz Oh hey, I have high stats, got a LOR request, didn’t get early admission
@AllRightNow did u apply to undeclared engg. :((
@USUG21 nope, L&S
lopsided? stats (low gpa, high test score) and got lor request
hoping for some good news :") nothing we can do but wait–the 30th is almost here!
Don’t worry! As I said, I might be completely incorrect. High stat students aren’t always put in the ‘yes’ pile. In fact, they could be put in the ‘maybe’ pile by human readers, too. Maybe Berkeley just wanted to know more about you guys, even though your stats are great.
Remember, I’m just another student. Therefore, I’m hardly a reliable source. And the process is so unpredictable and stupid, so don’t get worked up over what I’ve told you. Just wait for the decisions, and hope for the best!
guys if you don’t receive a LOR request, do you have little chance of getting in?
9 more days friends… we can make it!
After getting waitlisted at UCLA do I even have a chance at Berkeley??
Yes Astrophysicist — some Berkeley Regents invitees got rejected from UCLA.
@astrophysicistx Yes. S1 was rejected at UCLA and accepted at Berkeley.
Does anyone know how competitive the College of Chemistry is? Like what the acceptance rate is?
Can everyone who got rejected at UCLA and accepted at Berkeley post their stats on this thread? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-berkeley/1972924-stats-on-rejection-from-ucla-but-acceptance-at-cal.html
How are my chances for Berkeley L&S if I got into UCLA L&S (I didn’t get a supplemental request, so that means I was admitted on the first read)? My GPA is low (3.6 unweighted) but I have a 36 ACT (and good/decent everything else). I don’t have extenuating circumstances but I go to a prestigious OOS magnet school. I’ll chance whoever back - thanks!
@shadyrainbows I don’t know about UC Berkeley for sure, but I know that the UCLA College of Engineering gives more than a 50% weight of your application on GPA as it is by far the most important aspect of your application.
Considering the fact that you are OOS (much tougher admissions), I would say that it is pretty unlikely that you got in on the first read.
