@SB0112 ahh okay thanks for the info! that may make my chances slightly better if true, cause i did write alot specifically about the college of chemistry and my major n stuff

I’m pretty sure that if they tell you that you got in after June 7th, they will give you extra time to submit housing application…

I was admitted off an appeal today and I have no idea how to SIR. It says the “SIR Deadline has passed for online” or something akin to that, so I’m not sure exactly what I have to do. Any help is appreciated here as Berkeley was truly my dream school and I am so unbelievably stoked that I was admitted off an appeal.

CONGRATS!! What college did you apply to, or what’s your major if I may ask? :)

College of Letters of Arts and Sciences and I got in as a Molecular and Cell Biology!

Thanks! I’m so stoked for this. I was headed to UCSD before this happened but I want to make sure this actually happens haha.

I’m kinda in the same boat, except for media studies… the wait is killing me. Getting in on an appeal is more impressive than getting in on a regular admission in my opinion, so kick some ass at UC Berkeley! :)

@kilik9500 WOW! Congrats! thats amazing. have a blast a UC Berkeley!

if i may ask of those of you who appealed (all i assume), did any of you guys submit a letter of recommendation?

Thanks!! I really appreciate the positive comments guys but it’s kinda frustrating since I have NO idea how to SIR lol. This portal is really confusing me haha. But this is a good kind of confusing. :)

@bookham
I had my English professor write a letter of recommendation. I’m not 100% sure how much weight those letters hold, but mine ALMOST didn’t go through because of technical issues; thankfully it did last minute though. Did you get one written?

@anxiety yeah thankfully, my organic chem professor from last semester did. and yeah neither am i, but im sure that it can only help; thankfully you got yours in on time too :)

I did as well, I asked a language teacher of mine to write it. I think it’s probably good to go with what someone on a different thread said about them, a good one certainly won’t hurt, but a great one might push you over the edge.

I didn’t submit a letter of rec

To be honest, i dont know how good my professors letter of rec will be cause he’s kinda a new/young professor, but then again i could be totally wrong and it could be amazing, who knows. im just grateful he agreed to write it.

I’m sure the bulk of the decision is based off of your actual appeal letter. I’m assuming that the letter of recommendation just helps bolster the appeal, by providing some hinting evidence to the character behind the words.

Stupid question. Is the appeals office closed on Sat and Sunday? Does that mean no wave during those days?

@cmztreeter007 Offices are closed

Anymore decisions today?

Nope.
