Last year around 1,000, and less than 30 were accepted. (~3%). Could definitely change this year.
It changes every year. The stat stated in the above comment is for 2012 or 13, I guess. However, I’ve heard that Berkeley would be admitting the least number of students through appeal because they expect a higher yield this year (The source is not 100% reliable)
Do any of you know when we should be hearing back?
The deadline is May 1st, so you can safely assume anytime after (since they’ve been reading your appeals as soon as possible), but it could be before! (UCLA did theirs on April 30th last year, but I’m not sure when the deadline was).
How would you know that they already received my appeal? When I go to my portal, i don’t see anything stating that they have received it.
There’s no confirmation, but if you go back to the page, it’ll be a locked prompt (where you typed in “CONFIRM”). Also, you can confirm with the admissions office…
Btw, UC Berkeley admissions said that no decisions will be released before May 1st, so for all those who applied, hang tight!
Did anyone’s portal update yet? The front page of mine now says my appeal has been received and results will be posted by June 1st. So anxious…
Yup, mine did.
I heard Ucla appeals are out. Anything for Berkeley?
Admissions officer last week told me there was no chance of anything before May 1st. Today is Sunday, so I would assume they could start anytime, starting tomorrow.
Hey there, I just submitted my appeal 3 min before the deadline (I know, horrible),
but it says “Submitted: 05/02/2016” ???
Just because you submitted doesn’t mean their server will get it instantly. There’s always a delay period in between when you hit submit and when they get it, but I’m sure since you’re seeing that, I’d safely assume they knew something like this would happen, so you should be fine.
Has anyone been accepted through appeal yet? Last year, appeal and waitlist acceptances were released at the same time.
I doubt any results will come out today since they moved their SIR deadline to today, but maybe during the upcoming few weeks, they’ll start posting results.
Well they HAVE to do it in the upcoming few weeks…June 1st is only in 4 weeks ahah
Hey, so does anyone know how you are notified when the decision comes through? Do you just check through the portal or do you receive an email?
@mads94 People in recent years have said that you just have to keep checking the portal, no idea if that has changed though
I wonder when they will post decisions for transfers… Anyone have an idea?
Does anyone know the answer to OP’s second question? I would like to know the answer for that as well.
