Will they notify everyone regardless of the decision or will only those who are selected receive an update?
@StanfordBoundBoi69 can you pm it to me too thanks
ughh
Previous year precedent seems to indicate that only Regents interviewees and a select few others receive an early notice. Everyone else is left in the dark.
Also @livegorilla my first choice is obviously Stanford (hence the username) but considering that I was deferred SCEA, I’m not liking my odds. EECS @ Berkeley is a great program and if Stanford doesn’t pan out, Berkeley is my first choice.
NorCal Yield Events
Berkeley (in-state): 2/22, 2/23, 2/24
Berkeley (out-of-state): 3/1, 3/2, 3/3
SoCal Yield Events
San Diego: 3/9 - 3/11
Los Angeles: 3/16 - 3/18
These are the dates reported by a current Regents scholar. How can the interview date be on Feb 21st? Also, a mail never ends up in Trash. It has to be moved to Trash.
I’m not trying to accuse anyone of anything, but since StanfordBoundBoi, CaltechisLatex, and HazelJoseph are all accounts created in the past 2 hours, I have a strong suspicion that all three are the same person trying to trick us. The third one sounds like a fake name, who tf gets a 2400 freshman year then takes the ACT “more recently”??, and they have very similar writing styles.
@2022collegegrad is right. Emails don’t just end up in your trash.
Yes, I am a lurker also who just created an account. Not for the purpose of catfishing you, but because I didn’t want an internet trol getting everyone all concerned about not getting Regents emails, when they are historically released on Fridays.
i agree with @musicalitty… I’ve been keeping very close tabs on this thread as well as having done some other (attempted lol) research and it seems that r/c decisions are released on Friday 3:45/4:00 ish
@.@ Why would people do something like that? genuinely curious
what was the format of the email, if you are okay with sharing that?
@caleegalee seeing that the different accounts were all like “PLEASE GO CHECK your SPAM emails keep refreshing check your trash!” he/she’s prob just being lame and thinks it’s funny that people are wasting their time/freaking out on this stuff they made up
@raffie … wonder what grade they (or he) are in.
@caleegalee they sound like a 5th grader to me lol
congrats to those who received the email. Do you also receive the acceptance letter as well?
It’s a badge of honor for nerds. I heard both MIT and Caltech students are famous for their pranks. No practical value, but if they can prank you, it proves they are smarter than you and a true “techer”. Maybe someone in Berkeley is trying to setup that tradition as well?
Hi everyone, I’m a current freshman at UC Berkeley and Regent’s Scholar here. Checking my email from last year, I received the email on February 10 which was a Friday so it should be coming out tomorrow at around 4pm PST. The email I received was the exact same as @StanfordBoundBoi69 so obviously s/he does have some inside information. Let me clarify a few things:
-
If you get the Regents’ interview email tomorrow, you are officially admitted. Congrats! If I recall correctly, around 30% of interviewees will end up with the scholarship. Even if you don’t receive it, you are encouraged to apply for similar scholarships such as the Cal alumni scholarship.
-
I know a couple of people who applied MET, ended up getting rejected from the program but ultimately ended up with Regents for their second choice major. Also, the vast majority of MET students I know don’t have Regents status so keep your chin up even if you don’t get the email tomorrow.
-
If you are international, don’t lose hope. We have one international student who received Regents and is among our class this year. Look it up if you don’t believe me.
-
If you don’t receive any word tomorrow, don’t fret. A ton of my friends from high school did not receive an invite and yet they ended up getting in March. Hell, I know a guy who was straight up rejected from Cal but is currently attending MIT. Don’t lose hope!
-
A select few students are notified of their admission status tomorrow without an invite to a Regents interview. Though these cases are rare, they do happen. I do not know who these early acceptances are targeted at but please be aware that just because you receive an email from Cal tomorrow, it does not automatically mean Regents interview.
-
If you are extremely qualified and don’t receive an email tomorrow, look out for a UCLA Regents email. I’m too lazy to check if those have come out yet but usually how it works is that most talented students either receive an invite for the UCLA Regents program or the Berkeley one. UCLA was the only UC of the 6 I applied to that didn’t offer me Regents.
I believe I addressed most of the concerns presented here. If anyone has any other questions or concerns or just wants to talk about Cal and its excellent programs (I’m studying computer science), feel free to shoot me a PM or just @ me in this thread. I can fact check any claims made by random trolls If you don’t believe me, check my post history. I was once a frantic and stressed senior just like you are now. I wish you all the best of luck!
I heard that 50% of applicants get accepted on scores and grades alone, and that they never even read those essays
for those applicants.
4 p.m.
@WantInternship Don’t believe everything you hear.
does major/specific college impact your chance for regents? Like do they seem to have a quota per college or is it all end up being people in like engineer cuz they have top stats.
