UC Berkeley - Class of 2022 Applicants Thread

I am an international student and I received the “your application is currently under review” email sadly. I was interviewed for the MET programme, but haven’t heard anything since. Have all the MET decisions been released already? So maybe I’ll just consider myself rejected :frowning:

@stressssss @yuiichiiros I’ve heard Cal waives OOS supplemental tuition to Regents Scholars. I hope you are able to make it work. Cal is a special place. I’m sure you will accomplish great things no matter where you go!

I just can’t wait till March 29!!

This next month is going to be so stressful, but cant wait to finally know!

@coolguy985 Sorry for the late reply!

Most EECS admits (~80-90% by personal experience) never receive a Regents invite. Most EECS majors are accepted in March. If you did not receive an email, do not worry about it. I wish you the best of luck in March!

Our OOS Regents Scholar (now a senior) was invited in feb her year. She interviewed in Los Angeles. Income was not a factor, it was all academically/app and interview driven. Her year did not request LORs.

Hey guys! Does anyone know how many people are candidates for Regents and how many they end up picking? I know that around 200 matriculate but I have been unable to find any stats about how many candidates become Regent scholars. Thanks!

@justarandomuser0 I can confirm that this is not the case as I am international and accepted to Engineering.

Can those being considered for regents post where else they’ve been accepted?

@ugradbiz Supposedly, top 2% are invited and 0.5% get Regents, so 25% chance - at least the way I see it.

@ugradbiz Around 400 are accepted out of the ~1600 students invited. ~200 decide to actually attend.

@collegehopefull12345678 I applied to 20 schools and in addition to Cal, I so far have been accepted to Loyola University Chicago, University of Arizona, San Diego State University, Indiana University Bloomington, and Santa Clara University. I have received a scholarship to all of them (most over $20,000 a year) and have been directly admitted to their business schools, with Cal as an exception. I have also been admitted to the honors colleges at IUB and U of A, and I’m still waiting to hear back from the HCs at SDSU and LUC. I am eagerly awaiting decisions from USC, Georgetown, UPenn, UT Austin, Northeastern, UCLA, Cal Poly SLO, 4 other UCs, 2 other CSUs, etc. I posted a message with my general stats on here but if you would like a more in-depth look, feel free to pm me!

@dewrrrett Thank you so much! I couldn’t find those numbers anywhere. Looks like around a 25% acceptance rate. Scary as there are so many perfect stat students competing for the spots and I am far from it!

@collegefind1234 Haha thanks! Hopefully it will all work out, but if not, I heard the Regents Candidates still get a little bit of recognition. And the $1,000 scholarship is nice since the UCs do not give much financial aid to those that do not qualify for Cal Grants!

@ugradbiz - did you apply Undeclared (interested in Haas)? From the school and programs you mentioned I see a lot of similarities: I also applied to about 20 schools and so far have been accepted to Indiana University Bloomington, Tulane, Emory and Santa Clara University. I have also received a scholarship to all of them (above $20,000 a year) and have been directly admitted to their business schools and have been admitted to the honors colleges at IUB, Tulane and Emory. I’m still waiting to hear from UCLA, UCSB, CalPoly SLO, USC, UPenn,Brown and NYU.

If I’m unsure about what I want to major (either Psych or Business), do you know how much flexibility I’ll have if I decide to change after getting the Regents scholarship for one or the other?

Why UCSD sends mail to submit residential status?

@stanford2022 It was one of 3 forms most people just filled out when creating their portal.

Do you guys know if there are any upcoming admitted student events? are you guys going to visit during spring break or something? (I didn’t get regents tho so they aren’t flying me there or anything)

biggest one is Cal day which is on a Saturday at the end of April

@ugradbiz Is Pre-Haas the same thing as marking Undecided - Intending Major in the Haas School of Business?
