UC Berkeley EECS Out of State

I was wondering what my chances are at Berkeley for EECS given that I am an out of state applicant. I would also appreciate input on chances for Stanford, MIT, Carnegie Mellon SCS, UIUC CS Engineering, UMich Engineering (in state).

Asian (Indian) Male
Decently Sized MI public school (Not too many go to Berkeley but I’m not sure how many apply)

ACT: 35 (36M, 36S, 35E, 32R, 32E+W)
SAT: 2230 (800M, 690CR, 740E) - not sure if I should send this given it’s lower than the ACT
SAT II: 800 Math 2, will take Chemistry and will probably get 780+
Unweighted GPA: 4.0 (4.33W) - 10APs and Multivariable Calculus/DiffEq by graduation
UC GPA: I’m not sure how to calculate due to trimester system but I have 8+terms of AP with all A
APs: 5 - Chemistry, US History, Calculus BC, Physics C Mechanics, Computer Science 4 - English Lang, Senior Year - Macro/Micro Economics, Psychology, Biology, maybe self study Statistics
ECs/Awards: Science Olympiad (many regional medals, state medal, placed top 5 at states twice), Quiz Bowl (JV captain, Varsity captain, 2nd in state), First Robotics programming division, NHS, tutoring, tennis, Link Crew, created two Android apps (interested in CS), will be National Merit Semifinalist at least

Thank you.

You have to send both your SAT and your ACT to the UCs. Also, EECS is a crapshoot. Think Ivy equivalent. Your UC GPA for UCB (they used uncapped) is sky high, so I wouldn’t worry about it. Despite being OOS, I think you have a solid shot.

The UC website says that they accept either ACT or SAT, both are not required.

@QuadrupleBond Yes. But you must submit your entire testing history to the UC system. I asked my college counselor (I am in state for UC) and she said if you take both the ACT and the SAT, then you have to submit both. If you have only taken either, then just submit that. Take a good long look at the UC app. You need your highest test scores for both tests on the app (submit others later) if you have taken them. http://■■■■■■■■■■■■/home/testing-requirements-for-the-ucs/

Also, I don’t see why you’re worried. Your SAT score is ok for UCB, but your ACT is stellar. It won’t matter.

@michelle426 Oh alright, thanks for clearing that up.

I think acceptance rate is 6.5% if I remember correctly. But you have Michigan so that’s just as good.

@DrGoogle So you’re saying that both are equal in computer science?
