@jackpotgirl777 I didn’t know about the changes to the prerequisites until Fall 2015. I didn’t complete calculus and I am far away from getting into that class. I was shocked that I got accepted. I will probably have to major in something else other than psychology.

Advice for future applicants? Strengths and weaknesses in your application? Lingering thoughts about the admissions process?
I don’t know. I had 5’s on my AP Calc exams also. Low income, Latina, First generation also. I’m really sad I’m not sure what I did wrong. Personal statement I think was good as well.
You guys are truly exceptional. Far more so than myself. I cannot fathom accomplishing what you two did. Don’t let this moment be negative. Continue to work your tails off, and confirm to Berkeley that they made a mistake in not admitting you. You both have incredible admission offers available to you. My respect for your accomplishments ascend the highest of highs.
@zookainvasion Really?! Could u share ur stats please? Congratulation btw!!!
Hmm… For me, I also found out the change in Fall 2015. As a result, I did not even finish pre-cal courses… so it would be very long run for me to reach calculus courses. They changed bio requirements as well… I took bio 10 for Berkeley (it was one of the pre-reqs among bio requirements) but they changed it to bio 12 -.- I did not want to take all the courses changed only for Berkeley. So, Yeah… I got rejected!!! lol But, yeah… it still sucks… lol
Completion of Major Prerequisites? (Y/N): Y
Completion of IGETC or other GE requirements?: Y
Extracurriculars & Honors/Awards: student government leadership, lots of undergrad research, internship in desired career outside of the country
Advice for future applicants? Strengths and weaknesses in your application? Lingering thoughts about the admissions process?
I think having experience and awards in undergraduate research really helped my application. Also, I took advantage of every opportunity I could at community college and showed that I was determined to continue my education by working hard and trying to gain career experience. I wrote about my personal growth since I got to CC in my essays.
Major: MCB emphasis in neurobiology
UC Transferable GPA:3.67
Major GPA: 3.75
Prerequisites: Not finished, I would have needed to finish O-chem II
IGETC: finished by end of spring semester
Extracurriculars & Honors/Awards: Weak. Soccer for community college freshman year, volunteered in the biology stockroom
Personal statement: 7.5/10. talked about being captain of my soccer team and how personal struggles have helped me grow as a person and make me want to continue furthering my education
I’ve heard better things about UCLA’s social life, and Berkeley doesn’t have a specific Neuroscience major so I probably wouldn’t have gone anyways.
Congrats to everyone who got in though!! Good luck!
Admitted!
Major: Econ
UC transferable: I calculated around 3.7, but in Davis portal it is said to be 3.78
Major GPA: 4.0
Complete of Major Prerequisite: yes except UCLA
Completion of IGETC or other GE requirement: yes
EC: properties manager&investor. inherited 5 rental properties when my dad passed away and since
Applied: SLO(mech engineer), Pomona(mech engineer), CSULB, CSUF, UCR, UCSB, UCI, UCSD, UCD, UCLA, UCB
REJECTED: UCLA
Admited: all except la
I kinda know why I didn’t Admited to UCLA. I accidentally applied as pre biz Econ instead of pure Econ! I didn’t have prerequisite on it. Dumbest reason ever!!!
Gonna add some advice for future applicants, don’t apply to L&S CS, from what I can tell so far its impossible to get in . Apply for EECS or math instead, and when the time comes to declare your major you can change it to CS.
Completion of Major Prerequisites? (Y/N): N/A to Major
Completion of IGETC or other GE requirements?: Y
Extracurriculars & Honors/Awards: Non-Profit Experience, Volunteering, Writing
Advice for future applicants? Strengths and weaknesses in your application? Lingering thoughts about the admissions process?
Don’t let random people discourage you. Four year transfers can succeed if they are smart about the decisions that they make and put together a solid application. Yes, Rhetoric at Berkeley is far from impact, but I got into one of the most impacted majors at UCLA. Life is too short to allow the chance of rejection to keep you down.
Completion of Major Prerequisites?: Yes
Completion of IGETC or other GE requirements?: IGETC done this semester
Extracurriculars & Honors/Awards: Vice President’s Honor List but I worked alot so no ECs
Applied: UCB, UCD, UCI, UCSC, UCM

(still haven’t heard a thing from Santa Cruz)
Not upset I’m super excited to go to Davis!! Good luck to everyone this fall <33
ACCEPTED
Major: CS Letter and Science
GPA: 4.0
Prerequisites: done (all that are offered at my cc)
IGETC: Complete by the end of the Spring.
Extracurriculars: some in high school, part time job and some volunteer work in CC (not much after high school)
Essays: 8/10. I am not so sure, it is hard to tell.
International student at California CC
Applied: UC Berkeley, UCI TAG, UCLA, UCSD, UCD
Accepted: UC Berkeley, UCI, UCSD
Waitlisted : UCLA (lacking one prerequisite - the last physics class series), UCD (lacking one or two prereq - not sure since ASSIST is not so clear on UCD )
Advice: ?
Prepare your prereq carefully since the first semester at CC, map everything out and discuss it with your counselor in detail, in my case since I am applying to UCB under Letter and Science and need IGETC , I have limited time to complete all the prereq for UCLA and UCD (maybe I can but it will be too packed and may hurt GPA). Please check and confirm to each UC if you are not sure about the requirement. LIke for UCD : in assist the requirement is not too clear and I did not follow it up because UCD is not my number 1 or 2 choice. But in retrospect I should clarify first before applying.
I am so thankful, so relieved and happy.
I know there are many of you who deserve to be accepted with your perfect / high GPA and all, but somehow got rejected. I can imagine the feeling. Try to appeal if it is possible. But anyway life goes on and good education is not only at UCB. Good luck and wish you all the best. I know it’s easily said than done, but realize that our life are what we make of it, and how we use our education to achieve it, not solely determined by what Univ we are admitted into. My prayer and best wishes to all of you.
Major: Econ
ASSIST GPA(UC-Transferable): 3.81
Overall GPA: 3.85
Major GPA: 4.0
IGETC: Done
Pre-reqs: Calc II in progress, completed by end of Spring
ECs: Youtube content creator since I was 14 years old (2008) that has amassed 50,000 subscribers and 40 million video views. I also own a website with 100k users, where I have clients including Red Bull, Office Max, etc. I worked as a social media marketing executive full time (took gap year) for a software company in the Bay area (CEO found my videos on Youtube and sent me a job offer when I was attending CCC so I took the gap year and was blessed for the opportunity).
Additional Info: First gen college student, upward A trend for two years.
Weakness: Workload only Calc I and Calc II in Fall/Spring. I took a 20 unit semester and pulled off a 4.0 so they probably saw that I can handle a full time schedule. When I took the full time job position English 1B grade slipped(got a C). Also, at CCC since 2012 but I did take ~1 year for work.
Applied: UCB, UCLA, UCD, UCSD, UCSB
TAG to: UCD
Accepted: All but UCLA
Attending: UCB!!
Honestly, a bit surprised because I thought GPA would just kill my application. I was confident, but because how competitive Berkeley is, it could have gone either way… so this just goes to show for you future (econ) transfer applicants that GPA is not everything(although important) and Berkeley definitely DOES pride itself on “holistic admissions”.
P.S: If you are a future transfer and need any advice/help… don’t hesitate to send me a PM on here!
