That is a really great idea! I’ve just applied to both colleges and am perusing course schedules as we speak. I think I plan to enroll in a 4-unit literature class (which aligns with my major) at De Anza. Nobody can say I didn’t try! If everything works out and I get accepted on Friday, I can hopefully tie up the loose ends then. If not, then I’m no worse off than I already am. Thank you for the idea! I’m gonna run with it!
Hi I put one of my classes as IP (in progress) while I was taking a course in the winter and I just noticed I did that. Will that harm my decision considering the course was relatively easy and I got an A in it?
@Shwchlorine If it was “in progress” when you wrote IP (ie you haven’t received your final grade) then you did it correctly. If winter semester was over and you knew your final grades but wrote IP, they might be confused but I don’t think it would hurt your chances. At least you submitted some form of TAU.
@jaescott Winter semester hadn’t ended for me yet so I guess it counts as in progress, I think (now I think) in progress means that you couldn’t complete a course during the semester for specific reasons. Thank you so much for replying though it puts me at more ease although I don’t think I have much of a chance
@Shwchlorine I think you’re thinking of IC - Incomplete. That usually means for some reason, possibly extenuating circumstances, you were unable to finish the class that semester.
Great news!! So happy it worked out! I would definitely double check, though, that the full unit transfers because the quarter credits are not the same as semester credits.
I think 1 semester credit equals .66 quarter credits.
De Anza staff is really awesome and will hopefully be able to give you a better insight!
I actually think 1 semester credit = 1.5 quarter credits which would mean that the 1 quarter credit equals .66 semester credits, so that would be the opposite of the way you wrote it
@theladykatie You should definitely check into this because 59 semester credits + 1 quarter credits = 59.66 semester credits which technically is still not enough to meet the minimum UC transfer requirements. You may have to find another class at De Anza to take so that you can meet the requirement.
@uctransfer2020 thank you for that. I did realize that quarter units aren’t the same at about 4am today. I have actually been emailing professors all this morning in hopes of getting into classes. Hopefully, it pans out and I’m let into one of the 4-unit ones. I hadn’t realized how things filled up at De Anza! I’ve sent out about five emails to different classes. Hopefully one of these will get me in! Fingers crossed!
All the classes I tried (eight, in total) were either full or had prerequisites. So, I’ll just stay another year at my school. It’s honestly fine, and it means I get another year of experience/income at my tutoring job. That’s helpful for a future cc instructor.
Trying to find the positives. All will be well. And I got a fee waiver for the UC apps this year, so it’s not like I’m out a ton of money or anything. It’s chill.
