Hi!
It’s really hard to get the top grade in my country.
My average compared to other from my country is really good, and I have a good enough average to get into any university in my country.
I want to apply to UC Berkeley, and they want me to convert my grades (A=4, B=3 etc). When I do this, I end up at 3.65, which is not a good enough GPA for Berkeley. But I am convinced getting a 4.0 GPA in the US is MUCH easier than in my country (when you convert the grades).
If the rest of my application is really good, including my SAT, do I still have a chance at Berkeley, you think?
If you are a full-pay international student ($50,000/year+), you might have a chance even with a 3.6 and excellent SATs. If you need financial aid, no you don’t have a good chance.
@katliamom I don’t need financial aid
Go ahead and apply, then. US schools are familiar with educational standards around the word and will consider your GPA in the proper context. And if you get in, have fun. Cal is an amazing school in an amazing part of the country. Go Bears.
