Online Instruction for Undergraduates Survey

The University of California is considering offering online undergraduate
courses that can be taken for credit toward an undergraduate degree. Before
we start developing a program for online instruction, we need to gauge UC
students' interest in online courses and/or a degree that is wholly online.

Please take a few moments to share your opinions and preferences with us.
The information we gain from your replies will help us determine if this
program is worth pursuing. Thank you.

I think this would be cool, Berkeley online anybody?

no. online courses for community college is good because it allows parttime students to take a course anytime. but for a high caliber school like berkeley, it’s a bad idea. i’m not paying all that money for an online class. and i highly doubt ivies would ever offer online classes. if berkeley wants to remain competitive with the ivies and stanford in rankings and academic quality, then they better not offer online courses

one of the survey questions asked if the student would prefer taking online classes that work toward your on-campus degree.
this would be a convenient option however, taking an online program with the same UC Berkeley price is crazy. i think it should be optional and only for working toward your on-campus degree. the option would be cool…but a complete online UC school? puke. :)

a complete program online from UC is lame and it would be like a University of Phoenix redux

Stanford and MIT have already put several courses online, though they do not currently offer credit for said courses. Clearly, this idea is still in its developing phase and could end up just like Stanford and MIT’s online courses. I don’t see how it would affect “rankings and academic quality”.

i think it would be great to have some online courses at UCB, it really helps those who need to work more to pay off school/living costs.

As long as the standards are set high, online would be great for some classes.

there are already online classes at Berkeley. Stats 20/21 is offered online over the summer.

i want to take this survey
