UC Berkeley or UT Austin

Hii!

So I'm stuck between UC Berkeley and UT Austin (Plan II Honors Program and McCombs School of Business). I'm indecisive. All of my life, I wanted the out-of-state experience! However, money is the issue. I keep going back and forth. Both schools aren't offering me any money. Essentially, i would be paying 54k for Berks and 25k for UT. It just kills me because I don't know if i should pass up this opportunity. I only get an education once. My parents are supportive of both schools. They kind of want me to go to Berkeley because of the prestige. Being undecided though is not helping the situation. PLEASE HELP!!! :/

If you are in Texas, UT Austin is pretty much the Texas version of UC Berkeley, it is pretty much the same stuff.

Of course I’m biased, but Plan II plus McCombs is very prestigious. Congratulations on getting accepted into both programs! I don’t think it would be wise to spend almost $120,000 more to go to a different school. You could ask your parents if you could use at least some of that money for grad school or the down payment on a house!

Go to UT. You’d be paying 2x more for Berkeley, and though Berkeley is a better school by far, it’s not 2x better.

I got a full ride to UT Austin, but I declined it for Berkeley. I don’t regret anything because I LOVE it here. But if you’re an out of state student and money is an issue, then you might want to consider how much in debt you’d be going to Cal. Good luck!
