I've basically narrowed it down to these two schools. I'm in state for UT by the way. So, here are my final thoughts on both schools/programs. Please give me some advice, I don't have much time (I have to reply to UT's financial aid office by 4/7). Thanks!

Berkeley:
out of state tuition, but I did receive a decent package from the financial aid office (still costs a LOT more than UT though)
it's a school I've been wanting to go to ever since freshman year, and I feel like it's a once in a lifetime opportunity since I didn't expect to get it at all
love the location and weather (always wanted to go to California)
great business program, but I'm only in the "Pre-Business" major so I would have to apply to Haas later which means I am not guaranteed a spot
getting into business is pretty tough from what I've heard (around 50% acceptance rate?) and I'm willing to major in economics instead if I don't get in, I'm just not sure if it's worth it to spend so much more money if I could be at McCombs and paying so much less

UT:
in state tuition + received a pretty nice package from financial aid office (almost a full ride!)
great business program and I'm already in McCombs so I won't have to worry about applying again
nice location and environment (even though I've always wanted to go out of state)
I already know a lot of friends that are going

Sorry for the wordiness, and thanks for reading this. :)

Hey i totally understand you, youre on the same boat as me. Im from texas and I got into McCombs. I also got into Cal and im also wanting to get into Haas later on! The thing is, even if you dont get into Haas, Berkeley itself is still an amazing school and every major is basically pretty amazing. Im also thinking about majoring in Economics if I dont get into Haas. Thats also good that you got aid from Berkeley.
Personally, I’m pretty sure im going to Berkeley. Job placements graduating from Berkeley are really good and also I loove California. I have always wanted to get out of Texas!(especially since I was like the only liberal at my school haha) I dont get any financial aid from any school because im apparently still International even though ive lived in the US for like 13 years-which really sucks. If you havent visited Berkeley, you should visit it. Im going in like 2 weeks.
I understand you though. I still havent rejected UT yet because I know that McCombs is so good and because im already guaranteed a spot in the business school.
But it all depends on the person and what is most important. If financial is most important to you, McCombs would be the reasonable school.

But honestly, I would feel so bad rejecting Berkeley cause its so good and its so hard to get in out of state :)

I have a similar situation to this, I got into the Computer Science Honor’s program at UT and the school of engineering at Berkeley and I’ve been debating where to go for almost a week. I’m pretty sure I’m going with Berkeley just because I think it will give me more opportunities after I graduate.

zephyrus, i agree with you! Berkeley will give you a lot of job oppurtunities after you graduate because its well known around the world and in the US

Thank you both so much for the input. After thinking REALLY HARD I think I’ll go to Berkeley. I’m not 100% sure yet, but I’ve pretty much decided. I hope I’ll see you two there! :D
