Does anyone know anything about the chances of community college students getting accepted into this major?

Average gpa, extra's, etc...?

How difficult is it.

Unfortunately, UC Berkeley doesn’t give out their information about transfer statistics by major. I know that they’re average transfer GPA is around a 3.77, but if you have good ec’s and a strong personal statement and a 3.7+ I’d say your chances are good.

@dannyn94 Is that gpa for this major specifically or do you mean the average gpa to transfer into Cal?

http://admissions.berkeley.edu/sites/default/files/docs/Transfer_Flier.pdf

^Fall 2014 Berkeley transfer profile, go to page 2. 28.3% of all applicants to the division of interdisciplinary studies(Of which political economy is a part. Berkeley admits applicants by the division their major is in, not by major itself.) were admitted. So it’s fairly competitive. I don’t know the average GPA for that division, but it’s probably north of 3.7.

Definitely have relevant ECs if possible, and it’s always a plus to have a good personal statement. Be sure to have a professor/counselor/UC representative look over yours so you can improve it.
