<p>I wanted to create this thread to see who im competing against for political science majors. If you are a polisci major and applied to cal, then post your stats so we can gauge eachother.</p>
<p>School: Diablo Valley College
GPA: 3.89
Major: Political Science
Prereqs: All prerequisites completed
EC's: Internship with state senator and another internship with a non-profit</p>
<p>school: de anza college
GPA: 3.946
major: polisci (was originally psychology)
prereq: one left, done by the end of the quarter
ECs: internship at NASA Ames Research Center, but it has nothing to do with political science, so it might not help too much.</p>
<p>School: SMC
GPA: 3.85ish (but I’m a 1 year transfer, so I have all A’s and one B which killed my GPA. I also have seven 5’s on AP exams)
Major: Political Science/Public Policy (I’m pre-law)
Prereqs: All prerequisites completed by the end of this semester
EC’s: high school: student body president, class vice president, founded two clubs, ran blood drives, developed recycling program, two sports, mentorship with VP of United Talent Agency, WASC rep, rep to LAUSD school board, volunteer at animal shelter, studied abroad for a semester, etc. etc. I was a high school cliche in terms of involvement haha (not in terms of grades though!)
now: two jobs, one at a cafe, one at a bail bond agency, volunteer at animal shelter</p>
<p>i’m just a little worried about being a wild card as a one year transfer, and because my hs graduation wasn’t processed by the time of application. </p>
<p>everyone on here looks pretty good! Cal is my first choice but I’d be happy with Davis or UCLA too. Davis is great for poli sci because they are near the capitol so we get lots of internships haha. good luck to you all!!</p>
<p>my best friend is a freshman at cal this year and she’s going to declare poli sci too . . . she loves the poli sci classes she’s taken and the kids in the program are awesome. i’m so excited to even have the chance to go there!</p>
<p>gpa: 3.8 , i’m not sure actually or 3.7
major: polsc/intl relations
prereqs: completed, except 1 NOT from my major prereqs because its not offered there
ECs: i only put the ECs i had the last 3 yrs? none from HS, so I only had work related ECs (tutor, lead tutor which ranged from junior HS yr to current) and 1 community service, currently doing a govt. internship w/ my house representative but they don’t know that :(</p>
<p>UCB is the school i want to go to most, but of course my stats aren’t so great!!! plus few weeks ago UCB called me about vertifying my high school to see if its a certified one or not cus its new, so that’s more to worry about!</p>
<p>my boyfriend applied to Cal along with UCD and UCSB
his stats…
School: Sacramento City College
GPA: 3.3
Major: Political Science
Prereqs: All prerequisites completed and IGETC
EC’s: editor in chief for print and online newspaper at our CCC, staff writer for high school newspaper, working part time at the City of Davis</p>
<p>Haha, I’m the confidence booster for all you guys.</p>
<p>3.03 GPA
Major: Poli sci/IR
Prereqs: complete
ECs: Ran a polling station twice and was in Civil Air Patrol for 4 years. Did numerous events with them.
Essays: Very strong.</p>
<p>I know there’s a 0% chance of me getting in. I applied because my entire family went there dating back to my great great grandparents and if I didn’t at least say I tried, I’d be shunned haha. </p>
<p>I’m Political Econ at Berkeley, thats 1/2 political science.
GPA: 3.73
Major: Political Econ
Prereqs: All prerequisites completed and IGETC
EC’s: Work at NASA, camp counselor, middle college, couple others</p>
<p>Political Economy Major
GPA: 4.0
Prereqs: All but second semester Calc course. I think this may kill it for me. Also, no FL classes
EC’s: Nothing impressive
Other: First year transfer, so don’t really have a strong track record</p>
