UC Berkeley Regents vs Georgia Tech Presidential Scholar?

Narrowed down to these two now. I’m looking to study Chemical Engineering/Materials Science/maybe MechE or pure Chemistry. So, not 100% sure. The PS program at tech gives you a lot of access to faculty and opportunities and is a full ride. How does regents compare in terms of giving me access to research, faculty, funding, internships, etc? GT is nearly free, and Cal is within a reasonable cost for me to afford. Which would be the better choice?

The Presidential Scholarship at Georgia Tech sounds like it would give you a more personalized experience.

Regents gives you early access for course registration, a faculty mentor and guaranteed housing. I don’t think it has a guarantee on internships, research, etc. Cal should learn from its competition and implement scholarships that offer more care and feeding.

I would choose based on the campus environment you prefer. But if you have to take any loans out for Berkeley, when your alternative is GT for free, go to GT.

Berkeley’s Chemical Engineering and Chemistry majors are within the College of Chemistry, which is smaller and able to provide a bit more personal attention. Were you admitted as a chemical engineering major? Chemical engineering/materials science is an approved double major at Berkeley.
