so here's my situation, today I checked my email and I received an email from UCLA asking me if I wouldn't mind doing some supplements for them and submitting a teacher recommendation. all looks to be fine. subsequently, I figured that if UCLA had sent me this UC Berkeley probably should have as well but I never received an email from them, though. Regardless, I checked my myberkeley account just to make sure. and to my surprise, UC Berkeley also wanted me to submit some supplements and provide a teacher recommendation. the problem is that I never received an email from UC Berkeley, like I did from UCLA, so I'm unaware as to when the UC Berkeley supplement is due because it doesn't say on the myberkeley website either. if anyone is going through a similar situation and/or has any valuable information they could share with me regarding why UC Berkeley didn't email me notifying me of what they wanted, and when the UC Berkeley supplements are due, I would be forever in your debt.

@theRADtomato47 holy crap january 31st?? that’s in two days! do you think if i call and explain they’ll give me extra time? because i swear on my life i recieved no notification of this whatsoever and if it wasn’t for me just randomly checking my account i would’ve never realized i had those things waiting for me. thanks for your info though, much appreciated.

@Chromey no, I am a california native. besides my somewhat low gpa my stats are pretty respectable. ill list the main ones here for you. 3.6 gpa weighted, 2100 sat score, did sports through high school, 250 hours of community service, and some other trivial extra curriculurs. the reason why i think i probably got this from ucla and uc berkeley is because i experienced some “difficult life circumstances” that affected my ability to get good grades and such. im assuming that these two uc’s want a little more insight into how that adversity has shaped me and what i specifically endured. im just really confused as to why uc berkeley gave me no notification whatsoever regarding the fact that they had these supplements waiting for me. hope that helped!

^hopefully. Your best and pretty much only option is to call them on monday and find out. I agree with you. I hadn’t checked my berkeley account since I made it. I only checked 2day because I read your bost. How hard is it for berkeley to email its applicants about this sort of information? Heck how hard is it for berkeley to even get an undergrad email for applicants to email them questions?

@theRADtomato47 i couldn’t agree more, i think that when you’re the #1 public university you should be beyond making confusing errors like this. i honestly think they might’ve forgotten to put us on their mailing list or something because ive been looking around college confidential and with the exception of us and one other guy, i haven’t heard of any cases were someone didn’t get an email but had the supplement waiting for them on the website. everyone got an email 10 days in advance like you’re supposed to. ucla on the other hand emailed me right on time, explaining everything. uc berkeley didn’t say a word to me…

Berkeley and UCLA evaluate the applicants differently. Getting the supplemental questionnaire from one does not indicate your standing at the other campus.

take this very seriously BTW. Getting this means you’re app is on the fence and they’re looking for reasons to decide one way or the other. Be sure to ask the teacher if they can write a favorable rec, and if not thank them for their honesty and ask another.

I received mine 1/31, and on the mail it says that there are 10 days for you to finish it
so check your email again(the one you used to apply UCs) :)
