My friend just got an email from berkeley to submit a supplement essay and rec. I'm just wondering whether Berkeley sends this email out to everyone they pick at once or is there a range of dates (my grades are low but high test scores/great ec's so im hoping they would give me a chance like this)

No Berkeley only sends it to borderline students. Technically they have 3 supplements. Talent, disability, and borderline. I’m guessing your friend received the borderline supplement because it’s the only one that requires a recommendation. I got that one too. You still have hope because they stop sending them out in February. Well that’s what I heard. I got mine 1/7/13. Good luck!

I also got the borderline supplement…From what you guys have heard, do these questions really help students get accepted?

HI

This is my first post on CC, and I just wanted to ask does anyone know up until around what day UC Berkeley and UCLA STOP e-mailing out for supplementary information? I’m in Canada and haven’t received any yet and I’m FREAKING out because I’ve read a few people on here have already gotten their e-mails asking for additional details (whether disability or borderline). Any helpful information will be appreciated, thanks!

*Also is anyone else from Canada applying?

if the school is a reach for the applicant, getting a supplement request is a good thing. it shows that the school is still interested in the student and willing to consider him/her with additional information. if the school is a match for the applicant, i suppose the news is not good.

how could it hurt? if you don’t supply the info requested, it shows that the student is either lack of interest, lazy or incapable of follow directions.

Got a supplemental freshman questionnaire from UC Berk and also request for 2 rec letters. what are my chances?
