received the talent supplement a few days ago…
SAT: 1920
UC GPA: 4.25 W:4.1 UW:3.85
Lots of extra curriculars…
do applicants who get the talent supplement usually get accepted? looking at the previous posts, that’s what it seems like to me–but at the same time i don’t want to get my hopes up because i didn’t think that Cal would even bother to consider me

i got the borderline questionnaire…how long are these responses expected to be? any tips please?

My act is 30 and my hs gpa is 3.89ish so, am intobexpect one or what and my ecs are good.

Sent from my HTC PH39100 using CC

@Tejas Instate.

Has anyone OOS gotten a supplement yet?

Got my supplement questionnaire email thing today and I was in SHOCK.

Mostly because my stats are TERRIBLE.

UC gpa: 3.66
unweighted gpa: 2.98
SAT: 1730 with a 500 in math ouch

a FAIL on my transcript (trigonometry A)

yeah…

I only had one extracurricular and that was Academic Decathlon, 60 hours per week
And I’ve been told that my essays were “beautiful” but i still have no idea what they see…

I’ve gotten one C this fall semester for AP stats (among 4 A’s however) but I think they can see that I am historically bad at math what with an F in trig and all. But I’m amazed that they overlooked it all and I’m still wondering what hooked them.

@miaage- I think only insate students have got the supplement.

I have a 2200 in SAT 1 and a 116/120 in TOEFL with loads of meaningful EC’s. But I have a C in Chem during my 11th and 12th grades, which is the cause of my concern. I’m hoping to get a talent questionnaire when they roll them out for OOS and international students.

my fall grades aren’t available yet…but there’s a possibility that I will get straight A’s so I really want to send them in. Should I send them to the school 2 weeks after the deadline? will I have enough time?

How can you tell whether or not you got a talent or a borderline supplement?

I got a supplement as well! UC Berkeley is one of my top choices! :D

@curiousJDG9513 i got the talent supplement and it has five questions:
- Describe your special skill/talent
- Honors & awards/positions attained
- How many hours/day and hours/week do you dedicate to your special talent? How has it negatively/positively affected your academic performance?
- How has you special skill/talent affected your leadership development?
- List fall/spring classes of senior year

and I believe the borderline supplement generally asks questions about your study habits and school’s environment, but I’m not positive.

I just finished filling out my medical condition one. Anyone know how to fill it out exactly though? I just talked about how it affected me but I tried to not sound whiny or seem as if I’m just piling on excuses since it also lead to family problems and difficulties interacting with others!

Ahh!! I’m so nervous! W: 3.81 SAT: 1940 SAT II: 630 (Chem) 640 (math) Good ECs, Pretty awesome personal statements IMO

@Dancer581, if you don’t have your fall grades, go ahead and submit the questionnaire without them. You can send your fall grades to Berkeley after the grades are posted.

@WhiteLights, you can forward the questions to me at freehelp (at) askmssun . com and I will send you my interpretation of what the campus is looking for in your response. I also offer step-by-step guidance (fee-based service) in filling out the supplemental questionnaire; just ask me if you are interested.

I got the supplement request last week…

- Fall Grades and Spring Classes:
First list all of your fall classes and grades. Then list all of your spring classes.

I can’t tell if this is the hardships or borderline one. I mentioned my parent’s divorce in my essays but I did not think it would be considered an EXTREME hardship… I’m also in a very low income bracket (<$15000/year), could it be that?

Or am I borderline?
GPA: 4.3 w/3.9 uw
SAT: 2330 one sitting
SAT II: math 2 800; us history 750; lit 720; chem 700
ACT: 34
6 APs senior year
decent EC’s; leadership positions in clubs, captain of 3 sports teams, community service
I applied for engineering.

Your opinions would be great. Thanks guys (:

Also, how would I send them my grades if I get them after the supplement is due. Send a transcript?

Not sure, but you’ll need to send an official transcript once you are accepted, thus I doubt you need to send in one now. Just list them on the form as suggested. They will probably verify it with the official copy once you are accepted. Good luck!

What I did last year was complete the supplement question part first and then in the question regarding classes, I put that my grades have not been finalized yet but will be sent.

Can someone help me? I’m stressing out like crazy. I got the supplement app but I have to submit my teachers info for the letter of rec AFTER all the questions. I want to do the best possible job on the questions so it can take a while and I hear from my friends that the teacher I asked to submit my letter of rec takes forever to do them. I know i posted this already but does the letter of rec have a different time table? If not what happens if its a few days late?

Did anyone OOS get the supplemental questionnaire yet?

@courts
How do you send the grades?
