I received a talent supp. for badminton because I compete at the national level. My friend also received one for playing music at the national level. I guess they’re looking for not only NCAA national level sports, but also anything to round out the edges at Berkeley

I thought all people who listed an illness gets a disability supplemental from UCB. However, I didn’t receive any supplement and I applied to one of the most competitive major, EECS. Now, what do you think that means? (outright reject or accept)? Here are my stats:

ACT: 32 (C), 34(M), 33(R), 29(E) – (ouch), 8 on Essay (I know I suck at English stuff – I’m Asian).
SATII: 800 (M2), 760 (Chem)
Grades: Straight A’s except for a B in 10th grade and lots of B’s in junior year (because of the illness I talked about in the additional section). I also attend a really, highly ranked OOS popular magnet school. One of the best ones in the nation.
Honors (The best part): Siemens Semifinalist, Intel ISEF stuff, also have a publication for my research project, AMC distinction and merit award (Score 110 on AMC 12 as a sophomore), AIME qualifier, chess medalist in USCF tournaments, captain of tennis club and won locally, in state, and 4th place in sectionals, Also got the 4th highest score in the nation (some computer science league competition), interned at a software company. I have many other good things, but these are pretty much my highlights.

So, what do you guys think? I thought I would be getting the disability supplement…

bump. anyone?

You’re probably in without the supplement. If you listed the illness, then that’s a plus in your profile, especially with your strong showing in academics.

@quidditchcat Even though my awards/honors are pretty good, I mean my stats are really not up to EECS standards. Plus, I heard all people who listed a disability/illness gets the supplement no matter what. So, I am pretty nervous.

Well, if your school is really that good, they’ll keep it in mind. I’m pretty sure not everyone who lists a disability/illness gets one… Like if someone applied with a 2.0 GPA or something, I don’t think they’d get the supplement.

Just an update: I was accepted to UCB and received a supplemental special talent question! I spent a lot of time answering the questionnaires carefully and reported my first semester grades (all A’s) to UCB. However, my friend who also received the special talent supp. was rejected.

I applied at 11:30pm, Mountain time, on Nov 30th
