UC Berkeley Transfer?

Hello all! I was recently looking at some colleges to transfer to (coming from a community college), and I stumbled upon the University of California, Berkeley. I understand that UC-Berkeley is certainly a challenging school to transfer into, but does anyone have any additional information and/or advice for possibly transferring there, other than what their website already mentions (I’d be going to their Letters & Science for English; Currently, I have a 3.53 GPA and have had some of my English writings printed in my school’s literary journal; I’m also in the second semester of my Freshman year)? Thanks for any information!

Post your questions on the UC transfer thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/

Many knowledgeable posters whom can help you with your transfer questions. I will give you a link for UCLA which posts their transfer GPA stats which will give you an indication of what is needed for UCB. Expect UCB’s GPA to be higher for each major listed. Priority is given to in-state CCC transfers at all the UC’s.

Your GPA is too low for English major transfers (it’s even too low for Berkeley Engineering transfers). As an out of state student coming from a 4 year university, your chances were lower to begin with (priority is given to California CC students). With a GPA under a 3.8 you are out.

Berkeley is very difficult to transfer into being an instate student , let alone being from OOS.

It is a very tough and competitive school.

Additionally, most OOS students are shocked by the costs associated with paying the full fees as an OOS.
