I’v played soccer for 14 years and have played at the premier level for 5 (I’m currently 17). I was born and raised in Southern California but later moved to Washington State early into my years at primary school.

Overview:

I was lazy going into my Junior year and kinda flopped. I’m currently in the second semester right now and have A’s in my current classes and am positive that I can maintain those A’s. I’m taking the SAT after AP testing is over but got a 1700 on the PSAT. I know I can do much better when I take the actual SAT and plan on taking 3 to 4 SAT 2’s. I also decided not to play soccer for my high school this year as I am too engulfed in my academics at the moment. My cumulative GPA is 3.927. I don’t know if this will have any positive outcome on my transcript but my dad is not a US citizen and resides from the UK.Well that’s me! Any responses are greatly appreciated!

I’m a Washington state resident as well, a senior in high school right now. What I would say is that it really depends on your major. Because that really matters at UC schools, much more than it does at Washington public universities. Our schedules look pretty much the same, same amount of AP classes and all. My cumulative was a 3.905 by the end of my junior year, and really, that’s all that matters. Take a lot of AP’s as well your senior year. But, back to the major thing. If you plan on majoring in an engineering field, you will notice that it is noticeably harder to get into those UC schools when going for an engineering major. I scored a 2100 on the SAT and a 34 on the ACT and still didn’t get into the engineering school at Berkeley, but I know that if I applied into any other major, I would have gotten in. If you can get your SAT score to around 2100, or ACT to around 31-32, I think you will get into any major at UCSD and UC Santa Cruz, because that’s exactly what I did. Carnegie and UC Berkeley are harder for sure, but if you work hard enough on those SAT’s, ACT’s, and SAT2’s, you can boost your chances. Also, with your grades, you’re for sure getting into UW Seattle if you apply. I decided to attend UW over UCSD and UC Santa Cruz because of the price. UW is very quality, and quite the bargain for residents like you and me. Just a little note. But good luck, keep working hard, and you never know, anything is possible.

UC’s are $55K per year. Can you afford that? No scholarships for OOS students.
