I am out of state for both schools, but Michigan is cheaper for my family. I want to go into business and both Haas and Ross are great and you have to apply while you attend. I have visited both schools and I loved Berkeley’s campus but I live on the east coast and it is far from home. I’ve also heard Berkeley’s class sizes are insane and registering for classes is quite hard and it’s hard to graduate from but a better education? Opinions?? Thanks
This Cal fan (and grad) doesn’t think Berkeley offers a “better” education than Michigan. They’re both great schools. It’s true that at Cal you have to be on the ball to get the classes you need/want – and sometimes advocate for yourself in that regard. That said, if you want to graduate in four years, you can. Most of my relatives live in California, and they all attend or recently graduated from the UCs - and did it in 4 years.
Michigan is in much better financial shape than Cal. A very important consideration over the next four years…
Cal and Michigan are both excellent. I do not think one is better than the other, particularly in Business, where both are exceptionally good.
Where do you want to work when you graduate? Would you like to return to the East Coast or are you open to living on the West Coast? Michigan/Ross will likely have more East Coast companies recruiting on campus, while Cal/Haas will likely attract more West Coast employers.
You really cannot go wrong either way. The two universities are very different from each other, so perhaps going for fit would be wise.
