UC Berkeley vs. Vanderbilt

Hey guys, I'm really torn between Berkeley and Vandy, I cannot make up my mind for the life of me, please advise! I've visited both and love both a lot, and the cost of attending is not a factor in my decision. What are the pluses and minuses of either

To summarize this – Berkeley is worth $50k more than Vanderbilt.

Now, if the cost as you say would be the same, Berkeley is the obvious choice here. It’s not even close, in my personal opinion.

Let me add that if we’re talking about engineering, computer science of business here, then Berkeley is worth $100k more than Vanderbilt.

Well, one school is in Tennessee and the other is in California. I don’t think Tennesse is a well known hub of academia, research, commerce, or politics so your opportunities are severely limited. I should think the only things that Vanderbilt might have an edge over Berkeley in is agriculture and possibly forestry. I’m sure its nice and pastoral there which is why you are so torn over this decision, but you’ve got to figure out if academics are more important to you than a pastoral environment or is it the other way around.
