UC Berkeley's conditions of admission

Hi everyone,
I've been admitted to UC Berkeley, but I am quite concerned about the conditions of admission. I listed on my application that I am planning to take AP Calculus AB exam (self-study; this course is not offered at my school), but I have recently changed my mind not to take it anymore and have decided to take AP English Literature and Composition instead. In this case, do I have to inform anyone about this? Will this be a problem later on when I submit official reports? Will my admission be jeopardized? Will my offer of admission be rescinded? Also, will getting low scores on AP exams affect anything?

I am also about A-G courses requirement.. If my art class is not in the A-g approved courses category.. will it b a problem? Is Cal strict about the highschool courses requirement? I probably lack minor subjects. Im fine with major subjects.

Is this something I should b concerned about?
I jus dun wanna say yes to Cal jus to b rescinded later bcos of my careless mistakes :(

Thanks!

This is an irrelevant question… but is Cal’s tuition fees all the same for all departments? Im a Cognitive science major and Im an international student

You should inform the Office of Admissions of any changes you make (no matter how small and seemingly irrelevant), just to be on the safe side. Taking a different AP test (but still keeping the same number of tests/taking more) won’t affect their admissions decision, however if you decide not to take any at all then it’s up to them on what they say. I would hazard a guess that one less AP course won’t make enough of a difference to rescind your acceptance, but don’t quote me on that.

Talk to your Guidance Counselor and contact the Office of Admissions at Berkeley regarding your art course. Since one year of the arts is required for admission as a freshman to any of the UCs, I would make sure that your course would count towards that one year, even if it’s not approved in the A-G approved courses. If it’s not, then I would try to work out a solution with the Berkeley Office of Admissions before you go in the fall, as it is a minimum requirement. I would take it seriously, since many students are rejected outright for not having these minimum requirements fulfilled, so the possibility of being rescinded does exist.

I wouldn’t freak out about it; just go talk to your guidance counselor and send a few emails to the Berkeley Office of Admissions; they can give you the best (and official) answer.

To answer your second question; yes, Cal’s tuition fees are the same for all departments, as long as you’re applying as an undergraduate. As an international student, you’ll be paying international student fees, which can be found on Cal’s website.

PS - Congratulations on getting into Cal, GO BEARS! :)

Thank you! I sent an email to the Admissions Office and they said that they will not strictly hold to the courses requirement as I am an international student… Oh and I am aldo wondering if, according to Cal, an art course has to be taken continuously for one year? I have an art class for one semester in my junior year and another semester in my senior year. Two semesters would make up one year, but this art class is not taken in the same year, though…
