I have been accepted in both schools. I need some advice on how to compare programs at both the schools, student life etc
what are you looking for at a university? does cost matter? there are a lot of things you can compare be more specific
My costs will be the same with the scholarship that IU has offered me, so that is not a consideration.
Berkeley is definitely more prestigious than Indiana overall, though people can overplay this by focusing on rankings that split hairs; Indiana is and always has been recognized as a top institution in graduate circles, just that the overall reputation is held in check by its relatively open admission policies for undergraduates.
If you want a job straight out of college, majoring in business is better than economics (though several years down the road that may or may not continue to be true).
Both are in college towns, though the atmosphere at Indiana is more laid-back Midwestern while Berkely is more intense and culturally diverse, with likely more academically focused students.
Both are large schools, so you are not dealing with the comparison between an LAC studying economics and a public flagship studying business, which would be the real conundrum in contrasts.
Are you direct admit at IU?
Are you okay with an Economics degree if you don’t get into Haas?
Yes. Direct Admit into IU. My first choice is business major and hence the confusion.
Cal may be too big a risk if you are deadset on a business major.
Well, if you aren’t ok with graduating with an Economics degree, then the choice is made for you
