UC Credit Transfer Help

I’m a junior transfer who has completed two years at an out-of-state four year university. My parents moved to California after I graduated from high school, so I think I’ll qualify for in-state based on Exception E (pg. 36) of the residency policy (http://www.ucop.edu/general-counsel/_files/ed-affairs/uc-residence-policy.pdf).

I’ve tried my hardest to stick with my university as I have a full ride but think the opportunities at a UC would be much better and that I would be much happier not in the South, where I go to school. For this question on the UC app, my answer is more than 90 semester hours, but only because of I took 12 AP exams, giving me advanced standing. I’d want to enter as a junior and finish two years at a UC. Can I still select junior transfer? The opportunities for senior transfers are much more limited, and don’t include UCLA or UCSD, two of my top choices.

How many college/university units do you plan to complete before you enroll at UC?
Fewer than 60 semester/90 quarter units (sophomore transfer)
60–89 semester/90–134 quarter units (junior transfer)
90 semester/135 quarter units or more (senior transfer)

Thanks so much!

Yes, you can apply as a junior transfer. AP units are not counted in those numbers. So you also have 60 units from courses? Anyway, you’re applying as a junior.

from your post it isn’t clear if you have already completed 2 years at an OOS school and are in your 3rd year, or if the 2 years you refer to will be at the time you transfer.

if you are enrolled in your 3rd year then be aware that they take the max amount they award of 70 semester units of lower division credit and then add on any upper division. So you may be over the unit limit.

Or do you mean that with your AP credit you have enough units at your OOS school to look as if you’ve completed 2 years of college even though you’ve only been there 1 year?
