General Comments:
Thankful for the regents scholarship!!! And this is my first acceptance so that’s a relief. Best of luck to any future applicants!

I’ve been so confused about the acceptance rate so I’m just going to wait for them to update their stats lol

(copied and pasted from the official waitlisted group :frowning: darn upset, for now)

My first post on this forum (hello all!) is to say: I’m utterly heartbroken that I was waitlisted from Davis. I really thought I had a fighting chance.

But here were are.

In state
Major: Economics
UC GPA: 4.17?
ACT: 34
Extracurriculars: Stellar, if I do say so myself. Can give examples?
Essays: Hopefully, excellent. Went through a multitude of drafts with peers, teachers, and professors. My writing in itself is usually quite good, all honors and AP English courses with A grades, and several essay contests won.

Alas, it sounds like I’m fluffing my own feathers. But, I really did think I’d be relatively attractive to what’s considered a mid-tier UC. Good luck to us all, eh?

Found it!
https://www.ucop.edu/institutional-research-academic-planning/_files/factsheets/2018/fall-2018-applications-table2.2.pdf
It says that the acceptance rate is 9.6% and it has the data for all of the UC’s if anyone else needs it

I think it means the number of applications increased by 9.6% from 2017-2018, not the acceptance rate?

yeah. none of the UCs have acceptance rates that low. the lowest is berkeley which is ~17%. davis is usually like ~40%.

That article was written in the most confusing way possible…

omg I haven’t chenked my portal yet I’m freaking nervous

.

I got waitlisted. 3.6 GPA

OMG GOT IN!!!
Materials science and engineering
SAT 1480
SAT 2 Math2 750

Accepted Cog Sci
Gpa 4.2? Weighted
Act:32
Instate
Strong essays
Lots of EC
Hard rigor
Got congrats page from glitch also
UC Davis is definitely going more towards the holistic route which is a plus. A high GPA/ test scores should not be the only thing that defines an applicant. I know it’s hard to see people with lower stats than you get in, but we don’t know everyone’s circumstances and the cards they were dealt…so please be happy for each other!
Good luck to everyone, you will all get into great schools!

ACCEPTED FOR GLOBAL DISEASE BIOLOGY (by some miracle)
3.9 GPA (W) / 3.69 GPA (UW), 1390 SAT score. has there been some kind of mistake?? LOL

Decision: Accepted

Objective:
SAT I (breakdown): 1420 (720 math and 700 English)
ACT (breakdown): -
SAT II: Spanish 780, the rest I sent to satisfy A-G requirements…and the scores were around the 600~700’s. Embarrassing so not gonna post all.
Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 3.9?
Weighted GPA: 4.3 because I take dual enrollment classes that are unweighted in my high school
Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 51?/659 (pretty sure I went up, but this was the last time I checked aka around last summer).
AP (place score in parenthesis): Spanish Lang (5), Chinese (5)
IB (place score in parenthesis): n/a
Senior Year Course Load: AP gov, AP Lit, AP Spanish Lit, AP Chem, Honors Advanced Math, 3 community college classes (total in 2 semesters).

Subjective:

Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): CSF (potential life membership), 2 years peer tutoring club (senior year VP of Mentor and student relations/appreciation), 2 years Sci Oly (senior year secretary), Speech & Debate.
Job/Work Experience: Elementary & middle school private tutor, and have worked as salesperson/cashier in a local business before.
Volunteer/Community service: around 50 hours out-of-school with some pretty significant institutions, 300+ at school.
Summer Activities: Volunteer city tour guide in my home country, internships, summer camps involving college experiences.

Essays (rating 1-10, details):
9/10. In some of them I think I was too straightforward to save words, so they were less stylistic.

Other

Applied for Financial Aid?: Yes
Intended Major: International Relations
State (if domestic applicant): CA
School Type: Public
Ethnicity: Mixed, but dominantly asian.
Gender: Female
Income Bracket: (high end?) middle class
Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.): First generation college, a person that is full blown Latina in terms of personality but has dominantly asian heritage.

Reflection

Strengths: Test scores, GPA, experience in foreign countries, fluency in 4 languages (attractive for my major).
Weaknesses: ECs weren’t super great, came here too late (so didn’t qualify for regents/honors/chancellors). Also, the way my U.S. school converted my foreign grades made it look bad (basically, what was technically an A in my old school, they considered a B).
Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Test scores, GPA, uniqueness.
Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Accepted in UC Merced, CSU Long Beach, UCR. Rejected from UChicago. Rest is TBD.
General Comments:
I sincerely think what got me in were my shown potentials. Good luck everyone!

Congratulations to everyone who got their results! Did anyone get the Provost award?

I did receive the Provost Award but to be honest, it’s still 40k a year after it for OOS so UCDavis is not that appealing to me

@peppapigg i feel the same way and i applied for the same major too. I’m in the top 6%of my class and have 1410 SAT, but still got waitlisted. I’m both angry and confused.

I feel the same way about it.
