UC Davis Decision on MyAwards

No, I didn’t formally notify them, but it’s shown on my winter update. I figure that if my TAG is void, I will still try to get in through the regular admissions process.

High GPA people can also be rejected and receive the appeal form because of their coursework completion.

@chrono, It does not necessarily mean you are in. It seems like it’s leaning towards you aren’t denied yet.

About the FAFSA trick… In previous years, I had been wait listed to UC Davis and received a financial aid package. It’s a good sign but it also does not mean that you are in.

I completed all the lower division courses for my major though.

@isabellashea: What’s your GPA/major?

@HopingToXfer: I understand your skepticism. And yes, you are completely correct, just because we have the “Sorry” message doesn’t mean that we’re necessarily accepted. There’s still the possibility that we may have been waitlisted or our application may not have been reviewed yet. However, it’s April already and they should be done with the majority of the applications. And the FAFSA trick has been spot on in the past. I think you’re confusing the “Admission Decision Requirement” in the “Requirements” section with the actual aid package report. Everyone in the past who had their “Admission Decision Requirement” as “Satisfied” has either been accepted or been put on the waitlist.

And yes, high GPA people can be rejected, but that is very unlikely unless they are applying as an engineering major/other highly impacted majors. Unimpacted majors do NOT screen for coursework completion as a criteria for admission. I confirmed this with a UC Davis adcom several weeks ago.

@ChronoCross: It may seem like HopingToXfer is implying that you will get rejected soon (assumming that your app hasn’t been reviewed yet), but I honestly think that you’re competitive for Managerial Econ. From last year’s thread and the year before that, people have gotten into that major with 3.1s, 3.0s, and even a few 2.9s. So don’t give up hope, everything will work itself out soon!

Yeah, I’ve talked to a UC Davis Rep, they told me I had a competitive GPA for my major. Goodluck to us all!

I applied last year but was rejected due to missing prerequisites. I also applied this yr for same major and completed all courses except one but that’s not one of the minimum requirement. I logged in for 2012 and it gave me the appealing form. And then I logged in for 2013 and it said “sorry only non-selected applicants can appeal their decision.”

I get the sorry only non-selected applicants message.

3.17 GPA. Environmental Toxicology.

Apply form 3.0 anthro…damn

Dont get too excited guys, I got rejected by UCR 3.35 gpa bio major and I also got the "Sorry, only non-selected applicants can appeal their decision. " message. Sorry to break the excitement =p

Do I still have a chance?

@ghiblijiang: A 3.35 is actually competitive for Bio at UC Davis. I wouldn’t be surprised if you got in with that GPA as long as you had all prereqs completed (which would explain the “Sorry” message). I know people who transferred to Davis from private schools (lower priority) with that GPA. And the UCR rejection doesn’t mean anything. Maybe you had a requirement missing for that school or something like that. Only reason I’m saying this is because I know for a fact that you can get into Davis’ bio program with a 3.35 (having seen many others do it before).

@ac40507: If our theory on this thread is true, then no, I’m not so sure if you still have a chance. But of course, keep checking in the next few days/weeks and keep an eye out on the FAFSA trick too. That’ll confirm what your final decision might be and you won’t have any surprises on the 19th.

Good luck everyone, and keep posting what it says for you guys! This is a really interesting find (thank you mintyy).

I’m not saying that he or she will be rejected. Sorry if it came off as the wrong way. I meant it may be you are still under review and rejection is still a possibility.

“Sorry, only non-selected applicants can appeal their decision.”

Evolutionary Anthropology 3.54

“Sorry, only non-selected applicants can appeal their decision.”

And I tagged. Also something else I want to add, I started receiving internship invites for on-campus interviews from UC Davis for my major (Man. Economics) even though I have not been officially admitted.

Here is the email:

I find it hard to believe they would invite students for On-Campus interviews if they aren’t going to be admitted. So maybe you’re on to something Cinnabon.

Did anyone else notice that the number of available spots went up by 100 for Davis this year? Last year, the non-admitted page said this:

Now it says this:

There’s been a rise in international applicants (about 500 more than last year), so that partially makes up for the rise from 13,150 to 13,750 (International students don’t get priority). If you take that into account, the number drops to 13,750-500 = 13,250 applications or so. And then since there’s been a rise in the number of available spots (100 spots), we should be looking at a year that’s theoretically similar to last year.

And yes, take this all with a grain of salt lol. I’m just speculating off the top of my head right here.

Wow I’m surprised to see such a large response. I applied with a 3.04 GPA to Animal Biology as a lower division transfer so I’m expecting to be the last group of applications they look at. Even if the appeals message was an indicator of admission, my status probably won’t update until the very end. This is all I have to speculate on though since I didn’t apply for financial aid and can’t access MyAwards.

Two more weeks!

I am literally going to be checking my appeal page at the end of every single weekday just to make sure that my “Sorry” message doesn’t change to an appeal form. I’ll be really really bummed out if it does. :frowning:

I have a 3.17 GPA, I applied to Physics and I’m a UC-UC transfer so I’m kinda sorta still worried about this stuff. Isn’t it safe to assume that the vast majority of transfer apps have been evaluated by now though?

Vast but not all :p

I’m just really bummed that I found out this way but at least I know now instead of just waiting.
