okies thank you!
I wish I hadn’t checked here. I would’ve still thought it’s sometime in late April and not be counting the seconds… Now I’m a nervous wreck…
CCC Transfer GPA: 3.86
Major: PoliSci
Schools Applied to: UC Davis (only)
ugh i hope i get in…2-4 more hours to go!!!
If anyone logs into financial aid, if you click on Awards, does it say “You do not have financial aid for the academic year you selected.”
@sergkMD mine says the same thing
@Robhthree I’m receiving the same message… mmmm.
@starkali Once you click awards, it should say “You do not have financial aid for the academic year you selected.”
Ok, I’m sure it’s just not posted yet. No other reason
@Robhthree Financial aid awards will come out after admission, usually at the end of April or beginning of May. I asked a friend who is at UCD what his award site said for 2015-2016, and he had the same message.
I’m surprised at how calm I feel today. Like it’s all good, no matter what comes. Going to go to lunch, sit in the sun, take my dog for a walk…
@DavisCowsRule yeah that’s what I figured, wish it was 2 already
Happy I found out that my GPA is actually higher than I thought it was
It’s been saying that since march so dont worry about it just yet.
these next couple of hours is gonna feel like forever…
QUESTION:
Ok I have a few questions that I desperately need the answers to. So I applied to UC Davis without TAG and for right now, let’s assume I got accepted. The problem is I’ve been struggling in my Calculus class and today is the deadline to drop the class with a “W”. If I decide to drop it, how will it affect my admission? Also, if I drop the class I won’t be considered a full time student for this semester anymore, but since I’m not in a contract (TAG) with UC Davis, do they still care?
Call uc davis immediately, leave messages and send emails asking for advice. If u get accepted and drop the class, at least they will know you attempted to get advise with them and you’ll retake it in the summer. If u fail, im not sure, bit they may be able to work with u… Either way, get in touch with them! Talk to your teacher or counselor. If u decide to not drop, keep in touch with admissions and let them know u are trying your best and will do your best and that u are willing to work with them.
Don’t call. They’re swamped today.
They won’t care about half time status but if you need calc for Major, you’re in a better negotiating position with a D then dropping. They may let you retake in summer.
Getting a D in a class worth 5 credits will significantly drop my GPA though. The Calculus class is offered in the summer at my CC, but will they overlook the drop in GPA until I’m able to retake the class?
@mariamx How badly are you struggling in the Calculus class? Can you possibly pass at all? Could you take it pass/no pass? If it was part of the required prereqs, then they might not like you dropping it. If you get in today, find out if you can make the class up over the summer before dropping it. If you must keep it, find a tutor to help you, and talk with the instructor of the class. If you are entering as any kind of engineer, physics, or math major - you probably should not drop. If a biological sciences of any type, you might be able to go the summer route. Warning: Taking a Calculus class at UCD is not any easier than at your CCC, it’s harder.
@lindyk8 We think alike!
