Uc davis fall 2016 transfer thread

Fuck meal plans tbh since you’re going to be living in SHA which provides a full kitchen. I’d love the convenience too but the price is hilariously awful

You can always pay to eat at the dining commons if you need to, I think its like 10 bucks

Does anyone know if there’s a deadline to take out any subsidized loans that were offered in our financial aid package? Does the loan just remain available until you want to take it?

What SHA are y’all looking at/chose? And why? Still tring to choose :frowning:
and as far as meal plans go, I plan on getting the cheapest ones because I feel like I for sure am going to have days where I have no time to make food

@yoyo1995 @bolognese
Thank you; makes a lot of sense. c:

@boxandwhiskers
I think they said the date in the online orientation. Maybe look back there?
@musicallyweird
I was thinking about The Lexington and Adobe, possibly Arlington because of their single-occupancy rooms and higher number of 1:1 bed/bath ratio. Like, a single-occupancy is my number one choice, but if that doesn’t happen, I don’t know how I’d even survive if I didn’t have my own bathroom space dude

@boxandwhiskers Yupp, Loans stay there throughout the entire academic year, until you plan to touch them. I am not touching any loans now, until I get broke, then I’ll hit them up anytime untill next july.

Hey guys,
I took Accounting 1 as Pass/No pass just to try out accounting. I had over 100% in the class but due to extenuating circumstances I missed the 2nd midterm and now it’s almost impossible to earn a passing grade. Is a NP in Accounting likely to rescind my acceptance to Davis?

My IGETC is already done and Accounting has no relation to my major, I also already finished the 90 transferable units required for junior status. I have only one other NP on my transcript in a GE from 2014 and I retook it and got an A, the rest of the grades on my transcript are A’s and B’s. I’m also doing fine in my other classes this quarter.

@insolus Go to myadmissions, Look at the coursework list, and see of it says Transferable. If it is, then it will be looked at. If it’s not, then it won’t be looked at. But when it comes to rescinding, its totally up to the University to decide that and no one can surely know unless you call them and get an answer. But P/NP, and your saying it is not important as much, Then in my opinion its not a big of a deal. Cheers!

@yoyo1995 It is a UC transferable course yes. And yeah I missed their call hours, they close at 4pm, will be calling tomorrow. Currently waiting on that and an e-mail response from my teacher hoping for mercy.

I also have the option of dropping with a W by this Thursday, not sure if that’s worse or better than a NP, will also inquire admissions about this when I speak to them.

Hey! So I updated my classes on my admissions and it was processed, but I didn’t get any email from them regarding if it affected my admissions…Are we supposed to get a confirmation email?

@insolus I also dropped a transferable class with a W and it did not affect my admission. You should call them tomorrow and have admission suggest the best for your case. Good luck!

@yoyo1995 That’s really great to know thanks, I will call tomorrow and update.

Im really worried, I thought I was passing my language class because of the grading scale, but apparently I had a D when I thought I had a 76. It was an igetc class and I’m super worried. I got A’s in everything else. If I take it in the summer do you think UCD will still rescind my admission?

Anyone know what orientation will be like?

Does anyone know if you have to stay for the entire orientation? It says it’s an all day thing and I really can’t imagine they have 8+ hours of useful information to share with me. I’m just going to get the early registration date and would rather not stick around for a bunch of fluff.

@insolus @megantwin Orientation is only really important to enroll and register for your classes. You have a pass time to sit with counselors to pick out classes (pass one). If you aren’t around for that, you register for classes during your pass two time slot on your own sometime in August. I’m not sure if there will be guaranteed spaces available by then, since everyone will be registering for classes during orientation during their pass ones.
You also get your Student ID card during Orientation.

Hey guys did any of you go for the pre event overnight option for orientation? That comes with a room in the residence halls right?

Never mind I found it

Question about orientation,
It already shows my pass date as 6/23(same day as orientation) in the afternoon, if I don’t go to orientation or just leave after checking in will I keep the pass date? I only signed up for the early registration, I’m not interested in anything else and would rather just go home(or stay home entirely) and register on my own.

Too nervous…
Can anyone chance me critically?
Thank you in advance guys and good luck to you all crews.
