Since it has come up in this thread, I have a question about financial aid.
My parents make well above six figures but debt and other bad decisions have made it so that paying for school will still be a challenge.
Is there much opportunity for me to get any grants despite my parents earnings or is it pretty hopeless?
Should I just try to find scholarships instead? I’m a pretty good academic and also African-American and Mexican if that factors into scholarships or aid decisions at all.
Lastly, I have a 3.7 in statistics so my options for schools are pretty good. Is there much variation in grants among the UCs? Other comparable universities?
Thank you for you email and congratulation on your TAG. Please update your UC Application (no need to call or email Undergraduate Admissions) to reflect your most current schedule and yes, you are correct that you will update is again in January with your fall 2015 grades and most current spring 2016 schedule. You can put a note in “additional comments” under "Academic History’ to explain why you schedule changed if you feel the need. Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have further questions.
I started checking out off campus housing and it looks like it’s cheap to live with roommates. Less so if you want to live alone (like I do, ideally). I will ask about transfer housing when I’m there next week.
Re: car vs bike. This is something I’m thinking about now since I don’t even know how to drive yet.
I’m going to get my permit over winter break and hopefully my license by the time the semester starts or by spring break. I’ll save for a car in the meantime. I really want to avoid debt for undergrad so, if it looks like I can’t get anything decent, I’ll just bike and take the bus instead.
Hey! So I’m filing out my UC App right now (my TAG was approved) and having finished choosing my classes for the following quarter, I’m filling out the classes on the app. Some of the classes I’m taking are different than what I originally planned (bc of availability) Do I just make the changes or do I have to contact Davis?
You make the changes and continue on with your current schedule come January when we update the UCs. It’s fine if the expected classes you listed on your UCTAP account before you submitted your TAG are different from the ones you’ll put down for our future update.
I think what napapapa said is correct as long as they are not major pre-req courses. I had to change some courses for IGETC because of availability and my adviser confirmed that it would be okay to update those like napapapa said. I would double check with your adviser if they are in fact major pre-req courses since I didn’t inquire about those specifically.
So when Davis is looking at our applications, are they looking at our grades before the January transfer academic update or before it? I would think they would be looking at our most current grades, including Fall 2015, but just wondering
Can anyone tell me what the prerequisites for Managerial economics are??? I got the basics like Intro to micro and macro, two cal classes, and one stats class… am i missing anything else???
@FrenchToast1996 like @musicallyweird said, assist.org is the place to go. I’ve done micro, macro, stats. They ask for Calc 1, 2, two accounting classes, a C++ class, and a Communications class for the 15-16 agreement. Rn I’m doing Calc 1, ACTG 4A. Next semester I’m doing Calc 2, ACTG 4B, and Java. I won’t finish all of the major prep but that’s ok because I have the tag. You don’t have to finish all of the courses listed on assist, it just makes you more competitive.
