“It’s on the later side in the transfer application process, but it’ll hopefully be worth the wait.”

That’s what they said about HL2 Episode 3.

Sorry. :P

Sorry. :P

@derse4444 Haha it’s going to truly be a strenuous wait to not hear for so long. And if it’s a rejection… :(

I see you applied for Computer Science. I applied for Chemical Engineering, so we’re both waiting on impacted, math heavy majors…yay.

@GoToCC

I am really surprised to hear anyone say SF is overrated. I have been there many times, and it is an amazing city. I have been over 21 for a while. I think being under 21 in any city probably changes a lot as far as things to do, but SF is great. LA is not even a real city compared to SF.

I have never been to Tahoe, but I am looking forward to it. I have spent a lot of time further south in the Sierra Nevadas in Yosemite and it is one of the most beautiful places on Earth.

That’s a pretty ignorant statement. What in the average week do you do in San Diego that you can’t do in Sacramento?

@mermaker

Wow. UCSC is definitely more “in the middle of nowhere” compared to Davis so that better not be what you’re going off of to decide.

@king No, It’s not the only reason, but it’s one of the reason. Location is pretty important to me, so If I don’t feel like the area is right for me, I won’t go there.

It seems like UCSC has more interesting things going on in it’s vicinity. Like the beach and awesome forest. I surf so If I place if far from the beach, I always feel like I’m “in the middle on nowhere”. That’s just me though

@king Beach and TJ lol

Davis is actually my second choice… and I got in thanks to the TAG… I’m just waiting on Cal. Both are great schools… it’s just that Cal is alot closer to home which is ideal for me.

@merker

Fair enough.

The average UCSD student rarely goes to the beach and never goes to TJ. And you can drink and sit in the sun in Sacramento. Maybe not exactly the same as the beach and TJ, but whatever. No you can’t surf however so I can see that as a deal breaker for some people which is fine but for the people who don’t surf, I can see them liking UC Davis.

UCD is my first and only choice (TAG). They have more clubs and programs than any other UC. I especially like the boxing, welding classes, Formula SAE team, and equestrian center. All that, along with its proximity to Yosemite will keep me plenty busy. I’m transferring as a mechanical engineer major from CCC in San Diego.

I do love San Diego though. I nearly applied for UCSD, but decided against it since I really want to experience something different. I’ll probably end up living in San Diego for the rest of my life and knew Davis would not offer enough to convince me otherwise. Someone stated earlier, San Diego is full of Republicans. This is so not true. It probably feels that way to visitors since there are a lot of affluent people and military population (the places tourists go). The city is so diverse and eventful, you could live here your whole life and will still find new places to experience. There is way too much to do here, and the weather is always perfect. There really is no comparison. Honestly, this was my main concern for needing to get out of San Diego. It’s too much of a distraction for an engineer major. I needed something quieter, hence Davis. I’m also an older transfer, 26 yo.

No, I just applied to see if I could get in.

But I’ll attend if I do get in =D.

hands down, top choice out of all UCs.

I was thinking of attending UCSC until I found out that they segregate transfer students into one dorm in Porter.

yess definitely coming here :)

Definitely my first choice. UC Davis is a gorgeous campus, I went there for a tour a couple of months ago. =)

Ideally its my 3rd choice (After Cal and UCLA) but realistically, Davis is my #1 choice.

I got a TAG agreement, with a comm major. Im actually visiting the campus on Wednesday. Ill write my impressions once I come back from it.

chelsiemorning: I’m a native san diegan and I am definitely not a republican. The town has a majority of dems now and that’s been true the past couple of years. Surfers, really? The majority of surfers are kids and tourists. People who can get to the beach during the day may surf. But San Diego County is HUGE and most of the county does not surf.

The city is very diverse in population. There is always something to do that is not “touristy”. There are lots of parks and community events. You can drive from the beach to the local mountains such that you could get tanned at the beach and an hour later you’re in the snow in the Laguna Mountains.
My DD is a student at Davis, and she was attracted by the differences from her hometown and Davis. She could have applied to UCSD but chose to experience other areas of the state; she loves the biking community in davis and the agricultural exposure.

I’m sorry, what is DD? …as I’m guessing it’s not designated driver.

And well… I am from San Bernardino County, so I don’t know if I would describe San Diego County as huge. I just don’t like it. Just a personal preference. If by kids you mean college-aged kids, then that would be the group I am referring to because I am college-aged. A large portion of the people I know in San Diego (18-30 crowd) surf and just walking around you see a lot of surfers in college areas like Ocean Beach / Point Loma, just like in Orange County (Huntington, Newport, Laguna, etc.). Personally, if I were going to pick a beach town, I would probably pick San Clemente over all the above.

UCD is my first and only choice (TAG - Poli Sci). I live in So Cal, pretty tired of the city life, so moving to a more rural area will be a nice change.

I read that someone said that there are no jobs in Northern California, that depends on your field of work.

Pretty excited about going to UCD though, I tried to stay on top of the requirements for my TAG (only dropped one class, and updated them on it), which got accepted. So I am pretty excited about attending there starting the fall.

^ Hey! You are the same age as me. It’s nice to see people my own age.

I am fairly confident that I am going to Davis as well, even though I didn’t TAG. And I’m also from Southern California.

I’m only a junior at this moment but I already know that Davis is my first choice. Originally, it was UCSD but that’s way too far, I live in the Bay Area. Coming back to play tennis with friends and visiting families during the holidays is always a plus.
