My friend recently got admitted to UC Davis as a transfer From SJSU.
He is happy to go but his parents are a bit hesitant. Is it worth it to transfer from SJSU Business
Administration/Entrepreneurship major to UC Davis Managerial economics major?
SJSU is closer to silicon valley and has easier courses. UC Davis is more difficult but has better environment.
Do a lot of people have Entrepreneurship major in SJSU? Is Entrepreneurship a good major? IS UC Davis managerial economic major better?
UC Davis is stronger school academically and has a broader range of majors. SJSU is good for silicon valley jobs, in computer science, a lot of their grads go to Apple, Google, et. al. Managerial economics from UC Davis is better than business admin from SJSU. But imo, economics is a stronger degree than business administration.
The parents is asking if the switch of major will lead to big career changes.
Is SJSU Business Administration/Entrepreneurship major a good pathway to becoming a boss in any company. Does Davis managerial economics only allow you to become an employee and cannot advance to become a boss? Is the Entrepreneurship major in SJSU good or popular?
Managerial economics is a strong major, definitely better than entrepreneurship, and UCD is a stronger school with better professional prospects. Congratulations to your friend
Can a person with Managerial economics major ever become an executive or are they stuck being employees?
When I went to b-school about 25% of the class were economics majors and they went on to successful managerial careers. The bachelor of business administration is the limiting degree, anyone who gets it and wants to move up in the company has to get an MBA or CPA or CFA. They’re usually the employees.
