I'm panicking because I got accepted into UC Davis, Trinity with 40% scholarship, and I've been waitlisted at NYU.

Should I sign up for waitlisting at NYU or should I go ahead with Davis or Trinity? And which one is better? I'm an international student so the money's valuable in Trinity, but Davis is better ranked (and it's in Cali...)

I would say ditch NYU. It is not known for good FA, if you need any.

Trinity and UC-Davis are very different. Davis is a big, public U, While TU is only about 2400 UG students, and ~200 grad kids. Which atmosphere do you prefer?

San Antonio is a large city. TU is 10 minutes from downtown, the campus is small and very pretty. I can’t speak for UCD. Both are very good schools. Good Luck with your decision.

I prefer a smaller atmosphere, yeah, but I also prefer California. I like the money Trinity is giving me, but Davis is ranked 39th in US… But yes, you’re right. I should forget about NYU :)

Trinity has a very intimate computer science program and in my field (not CS) is well respected. At Trinity most of your classes will be small while you should expect a large number of huge lecture classes at UC Davis. San Antonio isn’t an awful place to go to school. It’s pretty warm, and combines aspects of both Mexican and American culture.

MYOS1634:
NYU (if I ended up getting in) would be without financial aid, and so would Davis. I think it works out to the same price there, but the thing is, I think Davis is more likely to give me FA. Trinity is 60% of the NYU and Davis price with the scholarship they’re giving me.

Also, I heard that Davis can get a bit dull because it’s not really anywhere. Is it true? Should I wait for NYU to tell me about the waitlist?

Whenhen: I do prefer the smaller lectures, but I’m also worried about the ranking. Should I be worried?

If you’re an international student, odds are very low that you will receive financial aid from Davis. Wait for your financial aid package but look more deeply into Trinity then. It’s a strong university and if you prefer smaller lectures or would enjoy interactive classes (discussions), you’ll certainly have more of that than at Davis.

I honestly don’t think Davis is dull unless you have zero initiative and sit on the couch waiting to be entertained. It’s a nice college town, you can go around by bike, there are lots of things to do for students (films, activities, musical performances…) Are there 1,000 things to do at any one time? No, but there are always lots of things to do and a variety of them.(And you can only do one thing at a time anyway, the key is to have choices, which you would.) Sacramento isn’t far which can be nice for internships, and San Francisco is only about 1 hour away.

Thanks you guys I was just told by Davis that I’m getting 30 credits off so I can graduate in 3 years. I think I’'m going to go with Davis finally.
