Narrowed down my final choices to uc Davis and nyu. Keep in mind, I'm waitlisted at Berkeley, ucla, and university of Notre dame as well, so I may not even end up going here.
I'm from CA and can go to nyu for $13000 + travel fees, or Davis for $7,000. Nyu has a much better business/Econ program, but is also in an area I've never visited yet and my financial aid isn't promised to be this helpful each year. On the other hand, Davis has less of an Econ program but is close to home and cheaper. Help!! Any input?

Did they offer grants/scholarships so that your costs are just $13,000? That’s AWESOME for NYU.
Do you/your parents have the $6,000 difference, how would you pay? How much debt would you be in if you went to NYU?
Because indeed, NYU is much better for Econ.
Ymmv, but if NYU is affordable, I think seeing another part of the country during college is a great experience. You’re young, and not tethered to home: take advantage of it, see the world (… the country).
(In addition, it’ll be very hard for you to live in NY for $1,000 a month if you choose to go after college - you’re in a very different position than the kids who’d have to pay 45-65k to attend NYU: for them, it’s better to go to NY after college, because with a salary they’ll be able to live in the city for a better cost.)
