Recently, I got accepted into cal poly slo with computer engineering, and I also got accepted into Davis with chemical engineering. I just wanna know some opinions about what you guys think. Thanks
Does cost matter to your family?
Not really >_<
@“aunt bea”
Are you instate? If so, you need to visit the campuses on admitted student’s day and talk to other students who go to each school.
OOS fees are very different and expensive. You still should walk the campuses.
Yes, I’m in state. I heard good things from both colleges but could you please provide some pros and cons from each school? @“aunt bea”
The majors are COMPLETELY different. Start there.
Class size will be much larger at Davis and they rely heavily on TAs to teach labs and discussions. You will have more opportunity for research though at Davis.
Location wise, I prefer Poly, by a long shot, but that is absolutely a matter of perspective.
Visit, decide if you really want Chem E, because it’s not an option at Poly, and go with your gut.
Good luck.
I think you should go to the one that is offering you a major in the career field you are interested in. Realize that it may be hard to change once you are enrolled. Here’s a story: friend had no real idea what branch of engineering he wanted, so more or less at random put down ChemE. He was a good student in HS, probably could have been accepted to any engineering major at the UC we attended. Fast forward 2 years. He’s not liking ChemE so much, but he took electronics as part of the requirements for the degree and really liked it. Wanted to switch, but his poor grades in ChemE gave him too low a gpa to be one of the 2-3 they would allow to switch that year.
I always wanted to go to a UC and I also wanted to major in ChemE, Cal Poly Slo was my safety school, and they didn’t offer cheme, that’s why I applied to CompE at Cal Poly SLo, but the more I did research on Cal Poly, I really like the school, so now I’m not sure what major I want to major in or where I want to go @mikemac
