went there 1971-1975, but have visited a few times since then, as recently as last year. Lots of construction and expansion on the outer fringes of campus, but the general campus and Isla Vista had much the same feel as it did 30+ years ago. It was a serious party school back then as well, almost every night you could find one if you wanted. You could also find students in the library early Saturday or Sunday morning working hard for hours on end. I managed to do enough of both. The sun, smell of the fresh ocean air and being steps from the beach, walking on the beach in the evening, or sitting outside the UCEN and eating lunch overlooking the lagoon was something hard to match anywhere else. For me it still feels like home when I visit. As for the partying ,you can do as much or as little as you like. back then there was no pressure either way. Common sense and moderation in all things, you’ll be fine.
